I'm not discounting your experience but this is clearly not a common issue - one that screams don't buy under any circumstance. Just on Best Buy there are over 1000 reviews with a 4.3 out of 5 rating. It is a guarantee that every person who bought this monitor and had the experience you did within a few hours would write a nasty review. That isn't happening.

I'm sure that SOME people have issues but with a monitor where north of 85% of the buyers are reporting a great experience I think your review is a little hyperbolic.

I got this monitor awhile back on Amazon and returned them because the screen is known to get burnt in very easily. I used this for split screen for only a few hours and had permanent and very noticeable burn in lines. I switched to alienware DWF 34" and tested the same thing and did not get any burnt it.

I looked it up and it looks like it's just an issue with display port and needs hdmi 2.1? Something I'm missing?

I currently have this monitor. I had issues with the random black screen here and there at the beginning, but i "think" the updates fixed this issue. I can't recommend this monitor due to the stupid software built in. I prefer a simple monitor to use as a regular monitor without those tv features. Some might prefer the features, but personally, it gets annoying.

These are buggy monitors, I bought mine direct from Samsung six months ago and it's a dead screen now, even though devices detect it. Samsung support is the worst I've ever dealt with, sending me round in circles. They are replacing it but it's been two weeks and ETA is two more. I'll stick with PC brands for monitors in the future.

Does "fair" mean there are scratches on the screen?

Burn in does not happen over the course of a few hours. More likely image retention which is not the same as burn in.

simple trick

buy samsung open box monitor from bestbuy for dirt cheap

add their 3 years extended protection plan

any issue happened within that 3 years, bring it to their nerd squad for service

they tell you a week later they can't fix it or exceed the cost of replacement, you get full money back

rinse and repeat, they encourage it. honestly if no issue happened after 3 years i doubt you gonna get one going onward, if it happened then its time for upgrade
