The Odyssey OLED G9 stands out as a huge 49 inch ultrawide with stunning OLED colors, strong multitasking, and a glossy finish that some prefer over matte. The smart features, remote, and software input switching add convenience, and several long term owners report no burn in or image retention after heavy gaming or office use. The main concerns are black screen cutouts, occasional panel failures, and Samsung support that can be slow or frustrating. Text can look less crisp than IPS, and the smart TV style software is not for everyone, making it a powerful but finicky ultrawide.

  • The monitor can develop permanent burn-in lines after only a few hours of split-screen use.

  • The monitor can show a dead screen after months even when connected devices detect it.

  • Built-in smart/TV features can cause usability problems like random shutdowns and no-signal prompts.

  • Samsung warranty and replacement handling can be slow and difficult, with long ETAs after approval.

BUYER BEWARE!!!
Please don't buy this monitor.
No matter the price.
This monitor is plaqued with screen issues.
Just look up "Black Screen"
I had this monitor for 3 years, and nothing happened. You're just panicking from some bad review, which happens to every product.

I've had this monitor for two years. The only problem I've had with it is a single stuck pixel that I have never been able to fix - and I've tried everything (that I know about.) Other than this issue, the display is gorgeous. But I also think the Samsung TV stuff is utterly useless. That said, I can switch inputs via software, which is useful for digital KVM.

I returned mine as well it was a birthday gift, every time I would alt tab, to change windows the entire monitor would shut off and prompt a no signal because of the smart features on the monitor. I wouldn't waste my time.
sounds like you needed a different video cable tbh

Pretty sure you mean "plagued" and not "plaqued" but I digress.

I have owned this monitor since April 2024, and have had zero issues running with HDMI 2.1. No burn in, used 4-8 hours at least 4 days a week for gaming. I have installed all the firmware updates and allowed it to complete screen cleaning when prompted. No scratches on the screen, but I have only cleaned it with distilled water and a microfiber cloth only used for the monitor.

If you buy one of these, make sure you check the box for all of the accessories before you leave the store. Purchased an Open Box Excellent from my local BB, got it home only to realize it was missing the remote, wall mount adapter, screws for the stand, and DP cable, all of which are supposed to be in the box, since the "Excellent" condition promises that all accessories are included. Returned it and ended up driving an hour away to one of their Outlets where they had a number of units available. Had them open it before I left the store and it had never even been taken out of the box, so a brand new unit. About $740 out the door with tax for a very nice monitor. As for those having issues with the screen blacking out, there are two things that helped me resolve that issue. One was to make sure you are using the correct video cables. Switching those out helped a lot. Second was to set Peak Brightness to Off. When I had it turned on to Low or High, whenever I opened a browser window the screen would flicker, and my assumption is that it was trying to compensate for the change in brightness on part of the screen and freaking out. Turning it off made the issue go away.
Chicago area I'm taking it?

the risk to reward on this one is very high. Given the high rate of failures for this monitor, an open box is most likely a return that was defective. But if you have store near you, buy it and see. You might get lucky. The one I bought had a line down the middle and screen went blank in the middle of game. I was using the Zeskit Maya HDMI 2.1 cable.

Agreed. I had ordered two - one in fair condition and one in excellent condition

Checked out fair condition first - insisted on plugging it in to test in store and the associate eye rolled me and told me to go to geek squad. It only had power cable (no HDMI, DP, remote). I plugged it in and the screen had a big black and rainbow blob (top to bottom, 2 inch width) from where someone must have hit it and broken it.

Two days later, picked up an excellent condition. Came with all packaging and was just missing VESA mount which I don't care about. Associate was 10 times nicer and neatly removed all packaging. Looked brand new with all the stickers and packaging tape on the mounts still attached. Screen turned on with no burn in or perceptible issues.

brought it home and downloaded smart things app - it showed that monitor had only two hours of usage. No black screens, no flickering. updated firmware - just rock solid with an RTX 3080 Ti video card.

TL;DR Be wary of these deals but you can really score a sweet bargain if you're willing to put in the legwork with a bit of luck.

Put me in the camp of folks who've had issues with this monitor. I've also tried the non smart version monitor and had issues. Both of them had the black flickering screen. One of them didn't have a proper fitting vesa mount.

I looked it up and it looks like it's just an issue with display port and needs hdmi 2.1? Something I'm missing?
I own one and verify that there is no black screen issues with G95SC. Its been a year now.
