This CUCKOO high pressure rice cooker is built for people who cook rice often and want more than a basic pot. The comments highlight inductive heating for even cooking, pressure cooking for faster results and a different texture, and a regular steamed cycle alongside the turbo mode. It also gets praise for brown rice and for handling other dishes like Korean braised short ribs. The main hesitation is price, since the niche features and non stick coating feel hard to justify for occasional use. A better fit when rice is a daily staple.

  • The cooker can produce a different rice texture and may work well for brown rice.

  • The cooker can also prepare non-rice dishes like Korean braised short ribs.

  • The high-pressure rice cooker can be sensible for households that cook rice frequently and make full 6-cup batches daily.

  • The cooker can use inductive heating for more even cooking and pressure cooking for faster results.

  • The price can feel too high because the extra niche features may not be needed for everyday use.

  • The value may be questionable if rice is not eaten 2-3 times daily, since a cheaper cooker could suffice.

  • The cooker may be viewed as overpriced for its specific purpose, especially compared with microwave or much cheaper rice setups.

  • The non-stick coating preference may be a drawback for people who prefer stainless-steel pressure cooking.

That thing looks like it could split atoms.
Nice design. Instant rice cookers have come a long way since 1945....

A high-end rice cooker makes sense for someone who, as part of their daily diet, is eating rice 2 or 3 times a day - and if eating at that frequency, it might make sense to splurge on something that makes better rice.

If it's not part of your daily diet, something like this makes a lot less sense.

i don't like cuckoo non stick coating. I think a pressure cooker with stainless steel is better for all the other features because you can get their regular rice cooker for half that and you still end up saving buying a pressure cooker separately.

Was wondering why the price is so high for a rice cooker. Besides the sleek design, it seems like it has a bunch of extra features that are really niche. I don't need my rice cooker to talk to me.
It uses inductive heating which cooks more evenly, and has pressure cooking which cooks faster and produces a different (some say better) texture. If you don't need those then a under $100 rice cooker will do just fine

I'm of the opinion that pressure cooked rice is much worse than regular steamed rice, but hey. To each their own. Looks like this has a pressure cook (turbo) cycle and a regular steamed cycle.

I personally like Tiger or Zojurinshi but Cuckoo is one of the high end brands that some other people do prefer.

My rice cooker is a plastic pot with a plastic lid insert and a vent lid that goes on top. 12-13 minutes in the microwave and my rice is perfect. Probably cost under $20 fifteen years ago.

I can't see people spending this kind of money on a rice cooker outside running a restaurant...

What makes this kind of thing worth the money? Not just this specific one, but lots of rice cookers seem to be kind of crazy expensive for something so specific.

You would have to be CUCKOO to spend this much on a rice cooker.
Talk about fuzzy logic.

If you grew up in a Korean household this is the only one you'd probably buy. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it sensible for an Asian family that makes a whole batch of rice every day? Yeah.

There isn't a perfect direct analog to this for the general American audience, but consider how much an oven costs. Plenty of Asian households can get by without an oven, but will absolutely splurge on a rice cooker. Same sorta thing, $270 is not bad at all for a family of four pumping out the full 6 cup capacity basically every day for really nice fluffed rice. Besides, you can cook whole meals (like ribs) in these.
