This eufy SoloCam S3 Pan Tilt is a solar powered outdoor camera best suited for wireless monitoring without monthly fees. The pan and tilt view, spotlight for color night video, and Homebase ecosystem fit make it appealing for driveway or porch coverage. Pricing is lower in store than online, with warehouse tags around $99 to $100 versus about $110 online. The main limitation is that it records motion events only, not continuous video, and the included solar panel has drawn durability complaints. It is a solid fit if event based recording is enough.

  • The camera can record color night video because it includes a spotlight for low-light scenes.

  • The camera can store enough power to keep running through multiple cloudy days and dark nights.

  • The camera can work well for wireless outdoor use when motion-event playback and event lists load quickly.

  • The camera can be a strong one-off option within the eufy ecosystem when continuous recording is not required.

  • The camera does not support continuous recording and instead relies on event-based recording.

  • The camera may miss motion when a person is parallel to the camera at about 5-8 feet distance.

  • The solar panel can be unreliable and may be easily damaged after rain.

  • The camera can have playback and motion-event issues, including slow event lists and choppy or failing playback.

I have purchased 10 Eufy cameras incding this one last time it was on sale at Costco. The one time I needed help, their China-based customer service dragged a potential resolution on for over a week of emails and ultimately didn't do squat. All over 4 missing hard drive screws for the Homebase3 SSD drawer.

Sorry to hear you've had issues. I've not experienced any problems whatsoever with playback or pulling up motion events within seconds. Have not needed customer support, so can't comment on that. I've been 100% pleased with these!
I installed two of these for a client of mine and they are good for their usage. Been running great now for over 4 months. I have seen on occasion that it does not pick up movements if the person is parallel to its cameras 5-8 ft away. On the other hand it can easily pick movements on the sidewalk from one end of the house to the other (20 ft away).

In general, most battery powered cameras including the ones that use solar panels (like this one) to recharge internal batteries do not support continuous recording.

Tapo model C460, C460 KIT, C660, and TC92 KIT are all battery-powered cameras with the option of connecting a solar panel, and they all support 24/7 capture capabilities.
