Oura Ring 4 is positioned as a sleek sleep and heart rate tracker that works well for people who want health data without wearing a watch. The deal can stack with the $200 Amex Oura annual credit, and pickup at Best Buy has worked with the charge still counting toward the credit. The main catch is the ongoing subscription, which makes the ring feel expensive over time, especially since shipping may still apply. It is a more compelling fit if you value ring form factor over smartwatch features.

  • The Amex $200 annual credit can stack with the Oura Ring 4 purchase.

  • Best Buy pickup is available through the Oura site for the ring order.

  • The Amex credit reportedly hit within four days for an order with Best Buy pickup.

  • The ring can be ordered using a free ring sizing kit to complete the purchase.

  • The Amex credit reportedly does not work on the subscription, which can undermine ongoing value.

  • The subscription requirement can make heart-rate and sleep monitoring feel unreliable or not worth it.

  • Wearing the ring during weight lifting can increase injury risk and may damage the ring.

  • The deal can be less compelling if the price returns to higher levels after the promotion expires.

As a millennial who thinks watches are for boomers, I'd rather wear a ring any day
Funny... fellow millennial here, I got the Oura ring so I could wear my Rolex and still get health data. I didn't want to wear TWO watches...that would be extra comical.

Useless without subscription. You'll pay several times over the most expensive Apple Watch, that has better sensors, than this ring over the long term. Not worth it.

I thought you had to buy on the Oura site to get the $200 amex credit.
Oura site has a BB pick up option.

Yeah the pickup is just at bestbuy. The Amex charge says the same thing as oura site purchase.

From what I researched, you are better off sticking with the Apple Watch.
Apples to oranges. Obviously a watch that's 20x the size can hold more/better sensors than a ring đź’Ť

I researched the smart rings extensively. Oura has a monthly fee to see your data. This is their reoccuring fee model. I tried it out for a month but just couldn't justify the monthly cost. What is stopping Oura to increase the monthly cost. Every single service from Netflix to Amazon has done that and there isn't a damn thing you can do other than stop using their ring or pay up the new cost.

If you are they small percentage who wants oura ring but for the rest of us, we have other choices.

I went with Ultrahuman ring, sold at various places including Costco website. No monthly coasts. For the first two or so months, it was a bumpy ride, they sent frequent firmware upgrades. For the last 4-5 months, rock solid with the charging and data captures. No complaints.

For those comparing Apple Watch and a smart rings, there's no direct comparisons. One measures from the wrist, the other measures from the finger.

I highly recommend ultra human ring.

How well it works if you don't subscribe to paid subscription?
It's a requirement. Nothing meaningful without the subscription.

I don't see the 274 price. Do I need to do anything else to see the price?

Ridiculous that you need a subscription for monitoring your vitals and people are crazy enough to pay it..I'll stick with my Garmin watch. An AMEX Plat benefit I won't even use bc I'm not getting behind paying a sub.

very unreliable for heart rate monitoring and even sleep monitoring isn't the best.
this is an expensive shiny accessory that has little real world utility, especially if you want reliable data

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhMKtqY6CmM - screenshots from this very thorough review where it's compared to other wearables

I'll let my $200 Amex coupon go to waste rather than buy this for $75 and pay them a perpetual subscription fee to access my data
Think of it like living in an apartment. One coould argue "why would I need to keep paying rent for MY living space?" Well, the answer is, you never paid the expensive amount to design, develop, and manage the apartment.
Same for technology. If you want to pay millions to design and develop hardware and software, pay for the maintenance/devops, security, analytics, etc then you can escape the monthly fee but you'd still be paying engineers millions to make sure everything goes smoothly.
