This is not true, the only differences between the A50 Gen 5 and A50X is that the X can do 24bit audio on consoles and it has multiple HDMI inputs. There is no difference in build quality, sound, mic, battery life, etc. I have the Gen 5 for PC and think they are pretty great. The biggest thing for me is that I can wear them for hours and they don't hurt my head.

As someone who's owned multiple Astro models over the years, just get the A50X and not the A50. If you're spending over $150 just save and get the far superior model. Refurbished with 20% off first order is also an option through Logitech site.

My favorite headset, which I still use today, is the a40 TR. Its the older one with the smaller mix amp. Is the a50x superior to that too? I just simply love astro headsets for the comfort bit wondering if I should finally upgrade to something nicer and wireless

I used to own the A50x , comfy, breathable, great sound, best mic on any headset, just has terrible sound isolation (due to cloth pads) so I sold them for that reason, just be aware!
