"If you already have Windows 11 Home pre-installed on your PC and you want to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro, you should complete 2 simple steps: 1. Install all available updates: • Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. Next, under Get up and running, select Windows Update > Run the troubleshooter • When the troubleshooter is finished running, restart your device • Next check for new updates. Select Start > Settings > Update & Security >Windows Update > Check for updates, and then install any available updates • Restart your device 2. Change Product (Activation) Key in Settings • Select Start Menu > Settings> Updates and Security > Activation > Change product key"

Fun Fact: If you upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11, your existing Windows 10 key tied to your motherboard works for Windows 11. No need to purchase a new key.

With all the advertising and telemetry baked into Windows 11 this should be free

I just ordered, the license key was immediately presented on the order confirmation page. I just applied it and it works.

Sounds legit.
I always wonder about these sites. You hear it's sort of a grey market, but then why doesn't Microsoft shut it down? Should be easyish to make keys region specific.

But then you hear sometimes the registered os gets shut down after a few months, even though they let you use the key.

Idk. Weird market is weird.
Here's the order confirmation email title, note the misspelling:

Your DigitalKeysBox | Online Purhase Microsoft Software Keys order has been received!

I paid by PayPal, this is their merchant info:

if you want to be even cheaper you can get a windows 10 key for about $3 and just update to 11 for free. I did this last week when I built my pc.

Not only do they not shut it down, they sell ads for these sites right on Bing and other Microsoft websites.
My guess is large companies fall under "the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" so marketing probably does the ad buys without the enforcement group knowing.

this link has nothing to do with microsoft, it is (at best) a gray market "key"
Good deals on keys usually are. So far I haven't bought any gray market keys, but at this price it's tempting to replace a Windows 11 Home OEM with a Pro version solely so I can do remote desktop into that PC. I've found MS' remote desktop is so much better than any of the other "free" ones. Teamviewer will declare your occasional use as "business" and cut you off. Other ones are slow at fades or leave graphics trails on the screen.

My question is if you replace a Windows 11 OEM key with a Pro version and MS later disables your Pro version can you go back to your old OEM key (which I'm told is permanently stored in the BIOS and you have to use the License Troubleshooter app to fix)?

Considering you could never go back from Windows 10 Pro to Home, does Windows 11 also block downgrades meaning you would be forced to reinstall Home from scratch? If yes, then I'll probably not risk it. The other PC is just 30 feet away but sometimes I'd rather not get up and walk.

Yes, but some stupid apps like turbo tax 2025 won't work with W10. W11 is garbage spyware. There are a lot of stuffs running in the background which essentially requires a SSD to match the speed of W10.

I have no need for windows if trading software and tax software are available in Linux. Make sure you have a backup image file of Linux in case Windows modify the partition.

I purchased an Office 2024 Professional license through a similar site for $25 USD and when I upgraded my motherboard I had to go through a Microsoft automated process and they validated the license i purchased and deactivated my license.

I just did a quick AI search, seems you may have to do a clean install of Home if MS later on decides your Pro key is fake.

lol. I just picked up 3 keys for $20, and they provided three IDENTICAL keys. Doh! Guess I should have processed it as three separate orders. That, or they give everyone the same key. Fishy for sure.
