Soooo I have 2 p1s and they both have thousands of hours of prints time and here is what I think of the upgrades:

5-inch touchscreen - I honestly could care less, the amount I use the screen is near 0, everything is controlled via wifi and the slicer.

Improved Lighting - I did end up adding better lighting to both mine but honestly this was strictly because I wanted to be able to spin around in my chair and see my prints from across the room, at no point was this a "need".

Improved Camera - again neat but I never used the camera other than to occasionally check in on my print when I was away from the house and the 2fps I was getting with the p1s was plenty to do that with.

Cooling - again awesome but I never had any problems with cooling and I printed PLA all the time with the lid on, in fact I never take the lid off and I have had 0 problems.

Guide Rods - I like the steel guide rods but the 2 seconds it took to clean the carbon rods every 100 or so hours wasnt a big deal.

Filament Handling - I printed a side mounted holder for my p1s, it is way better, 10/10 for understanding the rear spool was a terrible idea.

AI Failure detection system - I mean I'm sure its cool and all but the amount of "failures" i have had with my p1s is near 0 and most of the time it was my fault because I forgot to change what plate I was using in the settings or some other goofy thing.

New extruder - Folks this is where the money shot is, they took all the bells and whistles of the A1 series and slapped it on the refresh, the auto flow calibration on my A1 mini is chefs freaking kiss for getting insanely nice prints the clog/grinding detection is nice but honest to god I 've never had either on any of my bambu machines.

All in all you can upgrade your p1s to do damn near everything the p2s does for near nothing but I have to say unless you can get a sexy deal (like this slick deal) on a current p1s I would grab a p2s soley for the auto flow calibration, I love it on my A1 mini.
Ask me literally anything if you have any questions about the p1s or A1 mini for that matter I have literally thousands of hours on my machines.

No one answered you, but this is a super important question. Disclaimer: I'm not a scientist and I haven't done any measurements, comparisons, or anything of the sort. I'm just a guy who's been printing for a couple of years. Don't blame me if you grow a 3rd arm.

You will have VOCs (volatile organic compounds, or "bad fumes") with every printer just from the nature of heated, broken down materials to print with. In general PLA and PETG are safe enough for you to be in the same room as the printer. The fumes I smell are little to none from my P1S, although mine is enclosed and I have HEPA filters on the vent fan in the back. I also have the Bento Box mod if I'm printing other materials besides PLA, PETG, or TPU.

The "S" in ABS and ASA is styrene. If you have ever thrown a styrofoam cup into a camp fire, you know how terrible those fumes are. You should definitely not print ABS or ASA in an occupied room without some serious air treatment. People who print stuff like this have a whole another vented enclosure around the printer to contain the VOCs. It's going to be much safer to do this in a shed or a vented garage. Same with resin. You should do this in a shed or vented garage, as well as using nitrile gloves and masks to handle it after the print.

Should you protect yourself even with PLA and PETG? Sure, but microplastics have permeated every aspects of our lives, and you have to do the calculus to determine what is an acceptable risk to you. I've accepted to have my PLA and PETG prints going in the same room as me. The carbon filled nylon prints I've done used the Bento Box mod and I didn't smell any fumes. I will not print ABS or ASA unless my printer is in a garage or shed.

Be careful as the P1S combo comes with the 1st gen AMS and not the newer AMS 2 Pro.

My use case is functional items for my hobbies, for example parts or things that are useful in improving my kayak, firearms, crossbow, aquarium, fishing, hunting, cars, stuff around the house, etc.<br />
<br />
What features or abilities should I be looking for in a 3D printer for my use case?<br />
<br />
Is there a particular kind of filament that I would want to use?<br />
<br />
Which Bambu Labs printer would be best for me?<br />
<br />
I don't have a particular budget but I don't want to pay for features I don't care about
You'd want one of the enclosed printers. For the items you mentioned, you are going to want a stronger filament that is weather resistant as well. That filament will cost more and for a newbie is more difficult to print, so you probably want to get the hang of it with basic PLA before jumping in to, say nylon filament. I'd say to get the P1S but also make sure to purchase a hardened nozzle & extruder as the P1S doesn't come with either. The nozzle it comes with will be eaten up by some of the filaments you will want to use. My P1S has handled whatever filaments I've thrown at it... My Elegoo Centauri Carbon has as well and is cheaper, but this is a Bambu thread Smilie

The P2S (not part of this sale & sold out right now) and all of the ones above that do come with hardened steel I believe.

Do you think someone with a mini should upgrade to the A1. Is the bigger bed size really worth it

It's a good deal for sure, but the Bambu ecosystem is so much better. Printing models straight from the app is so easy for beginners. And the user base being massive means you will never run out of models available. Plus the build volume is smaller on the ADX5.
Agree, I have an ADX5 as my first 3d printer. I regret not getting a bigger build voulme printer

Can we upgrade the extruder to be like the p2s?

What accessories would you recommend getting with the printer?
Also, is the AMS2 worth the $125 extra over AMS? Would I need to buy anything else (power adapter, buffer) if I go down the non-combo P1S + AMS2 route?

How often do you look at your mini and say "I wish I could print something 256 on a side"?
Only you know what you want, but bigger is generally better.

Can you please elaborate on where the market is moving from ams? Beginner in 3d printing here and I wanna get ahead on these info sooner than later.
What's the other alternative in color 3d printing?
multicolor/multimaterial is moving to toolchangers like the Snapmaker U1. Bambu is actually behind the curve on this one. Their solution (Vortek) is going to be rushed out, likely only available on their expensive printers at first, and not as good as some other alternatives. Bondtech INDX system is going to be available for multiple OEMs and hobbyists to use and seems a better solution than Bambu's Vortek which will still be reliant on the AMS systems.

I have been looking into getting a 3D printer .. but have concerns about exposure to toxic chem fumes and volatile micro plastics - even if an enclosure. Are these valid concerns? Do we have any studies talking about long term exposure? This is a fairly new tech and we would only know 15yrs in the future that it makes a 3rd ear grow on your forehead.

The p1s is an amazing value at this price.

I also wonder if Best Buy will have the same sale
My AD5X has been amazing. Close to 500 hours on it and no problems and would recommend it. Only looking here to get something with a bigger bed size.

$400 is really a good price for P1S. I'm not sure if I should jump on it (1st 3D printer). Any reason to get the Combo if I don't need the multi color print?

That H2C definitely can't be cheap can it. I do wonder how AMS mixes with multiple heads staying loaded with filament at the same time...I don't get how that would work.
I was waiting.ing for the H2S TO BE on Nlack Friday sale. Guess have to wait for the next sale.
