This GMKtec mini PC stands out as a compact Ryzen 7 Pro 6850H box with 32GB of DDR5, a 1TB SSD, Radeon 680M graphics, and room to grow to 96GB of RAM and more storage. The hardware is described as overkill for a Plex server or Minecraft server, and the 680M can run AI models in LM Studio with about half the system memory. It also gets credit for easy Proxmox setup through a browser interface, plus HDMI 2.1 and Oculink for eGPU support. The main caution is price, since the Amazon discount looks small versus GMKtec's own site and a newer 7640HS option appears at the same price.
Home lab builders running Proxmox, because the browser-based setup is easy and the system can expand to 96GB RAM with multiple SSD slots.
The 6850H model is listed with HDMI 2.1 and Oculink for eGPU connectivity. The 7640HS version is described as having HDMI 2.0 and no Oculink, relying on the internal 760M iGPU.
Yes. The Ryzen 7 Pro 6850H is more than enough for a Minecraft server, and it is also overkill for a Plex server with a DAS. That makes it a strong fit for home-server use if you want extra headroom.
Yes. Proxmox can be installed easily through a browser-based UI with no command-line needed, and Home Assistant can run as a VM so you can add more virtual machines later.
Not necessarily. The same configuration is listed at $410 on GMKtec's website, so the Amazon discount may only be about $20, and prior discounts plus gift cards reportedly brought a similar unit down to $298.44.
Yes. It ships with 32GB DDR5-4800 in dual-channel 2x16GB and supports up to 96GB RAM. The 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 SSD can also be expanded with dual PCIe 4.0 slots for up to 4TB total.
Can this be power by USB C? I'm usint the GMKtec NucBoxG5 to type on there an I don't need a power adapter that require a AC plug which I like a lot. I can probably power it with a power bank and use a portable monitor and make it a laptop... JK...
Pretty good deal: Installed with DDR5 32GB RAM 4800MHz (Dual Channel 2x16GB), the Nucbox M7 mini pc support expansion to 96GB RAM. Featured with 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 SSD, supports dual slot expansion to 2*PCIe 4.0 2TB SSD up to 4TB
This is a great deal with 32gb of DDR5, I've got the same thing last year when it was on sale but with half the ram and half the ssd for $369.97 and even though it was a good deal back then, I managed to find a discount and a giftcard I had from points from MS and managed it to bring it down to $298.44, I'm saying all this to let you know that this price isn't final, do some research and you can get it even lower, even though it is a great little machine.

I want a output to 5 screens, not for gaming, would I able to do this on one of the USB 4.0 ports? How would the performance be? my laptop struggles at 4 screens.
The IGPU on this (radeon 680M) can now run AI on the latest LM STUDIO 3.30 (windows) out of the box without any tweaking needed. You can allocate 1/2 of system ram - so this can run 15GB models! It is a little slow at AI, but still 2x the speed of using all 8 CPU cores and leaves your cpu at 5% usage.-
Question for you geeks. I have a old laptop that can't run insta360 videos because it lacks juice. Will this mini PC run a program like insta360 so I can play and edit my videos of a trip from 2 yrs ago?
Please link. What i'm seeing are several threads with mac mini's with 1/2 the ram and 1/4 the SSD at $450. If you're saying there was a new mac mini with 32GB ram and 1TB ssd under $400 I'd be interested.
There wasn't lol

The mini PC supports expansion up to 96GB RAM and dual PCIe storage expansion up to 4TB.
The Radeon 680M iGPU can run LM Studio 3.30 AI models on Windows without tweaking.
The hardware can be used with Proxmox and Home Assistant as additional virtual machines.
The Proxmox setup can be straightforward because it uses a browser-based UI without command-line steps.
Savings may be limited because the GMKtec website price is about $410 and Amazon free shipping may require a $35+ cart.
The Ryzen 7640HS alternative may offer a higher model at the same price, making the 6850H choice less obvious.
The 7640HS model may lack Oculink, so eGPU connectivity depends on choosing the 6850H variant.
The Radeon 680M AI performance in LM Studio can be slow even though CPU usage stays low.

If it's overkill for that, is it any good for day trading on 3 monitors?
