Note that these will control basic functions, but do not have "voice" capability.
We have Hisense Roku (3 different models) and had no success getting generic controls to work in voice - even ones that featured voice buttons. If you have the dark-silver-color voice remote, you need to buy one of those (generic, $40+) to get voice control to work. At least for our 3 Hisense models, that is, YMMV.
There's nothing special about the price of these remotes. There are numerous Roku 3rd -party remote listings on Amazon around the same price or slightly more. Some with backlighting.
To make my point, another seller has had this exact remote in a 4-pack for $11.99 for quite a while.
You don't have kids.. andbtuays not convenient. I presume your a younger generation so the app appeals to you more. Why open an app to control a tv, my phone may be doing other uses.

It appears these are not compatible with Roku streaming devices?
No. This is an IR remote. Not an RF remote. These normally go for $3-5. If you want a stick one Google the Walmart streaming roku stick deal at $17. You can toss the stick and pair the remote with your stick. It's cheaper than buying a remote separately.

IR only, no voice input, no headphone output. Only works on Roku TVs no add-on Roku's. At least it's got a mute button, the remote on my Roku 4K ultra doesn't have a mute.
So these look ok if your dog ate your remote and you have a Roku TV. On a side note, we have a TCL Roku TV and the integrated Roku is absolute dogsh!t. It is so horribly slow I bought a Roku stick to use instead, which comes with the RF remote. I only use the IR remote when the TV goes psycho and stops responding or stops switching inputs (about once a month).
I've had about 8 Roku devices since inception and never found an aftermarket remote that could come close to the OE one.
The app is functional, but wonky and not tactile. Fine for a backup (or bluetooth listening) but otherwise meh.
For a main TV, just pay the $15-$20 for the OE voice remote.
(The original Roku remote was the best -- chunky, rectangular, well built. I don't know why they're still making these tiny roundback models with the awkward side buttons. You get used to it, but still a terrible design.)
I ordered a 2 pack of these a couple of years ago on Amazon for the same price. I only needed 1 at the time and tossed the other in a drawer. A couple of weeks ago the bedroom Roku TV remote started acting up so I found the spare, installed batteries and it works great. You seriously can't go wrong buying a these for spares, you will need them at some point. The most used buttons will wear out eventually.

I have 3 TCL Roku TV's the first one purchased in 2017 and it's still going strong 8 years later. They all work great using the built in software and I've never even considered the need to plug in a stick in the HDMI port for better performance.

This *ONLY* works with roku tv? I have the stand alone IR boxes and this IR remote looks practically identical?
Couple things to consider on Roku remotes that are personal preferences:
1. Volume button placement. OEM remotes use a side placement, which is weird until you are trained on it. Some replacement remotes move it back to the front. Also a few do not have any volume controls, so look out for that. This remote has front volume buttons.
2. The streaming service buttons. There are 3rd party and OEM remotes with different permutations of Netflix, Hulu, appleTV, disney, HBO, roku channel, etc, etc. Some older ones will be for services that don't exist anymore.
3. Number of channel buttons. Some are 4 button, some are 6 button. Think I saw an 8 button with some weird options.
My family uses Netflix, Hulu, roku, disney, and prime in that order and I *cannot* find a remote with all five, or even the top four that *also* have volume buttons. So I'm getting one without roku-channel with side buttons, which is a different remote (2 for $8)

The app is great because we can hide the remote from the kids. But you do need a physical remote if you WiFi settings change (like you move it to a new location) so your phone and the TV are on the same WiFi.
I just hide my kids so I can keep my remotes on the coffee table… 😁
