This gazebo is best known for feeling sturdy once assembled and for handling wind well when anchored properly. The polycarbonate roof panels are described as mostly dry in rain, with the design helping limit leaks, and the frame can be bolted to concrete or a patio for extra security. The big drawback is the build, which is time consuming and frustrating, and the roof panels can fade, run hot, and may not hold up as well in harsh sun or hurricane country. A solid option if you want a sheltered outdoor space and can manage the install.

Common Questions (5)

  • It is reported to be quite sturdy once assembled and has held up in high winds, including stormy Midwest conditions. For a permanent setup, anchoring to concrete is recommended; on a wooden deck, it may still stay put but the safest choice depends on your site and wind exposure.

  • Assembly is described as a pain and can take a full weekend-level effort. One build took two full days with two people, and installing concrete footings or digging holes for sonotubes adds more work.

  • The roof uses polycarbonate panels, which behave more like a sunroom roof than metal. Thicker panels are more resistant to bad weather, while thinner panels can be easier to break and may fade or develop small holes after prolonged sun exposure.

  • It is not described as 100% waterproof, but it generally stays dry underneath in normal rain. The roof panels and overlapping frame design can keep most water out, though a few drips or side-blown rain can still get in, especially if assembly is imperfect.

  • It is listed with a 2,500 lb snow-load capacity, so it should handle moderate snow better than many lightweight gazebos. That said, it is not a hurricane-zone solution, and the roof panels can fade and age in strong sun over time.

I have the same product under a different brand. The roof hasn't leaked over the summer, but rain, of course, blows in from the side. In non-blowing rain, you can sit under mine and be dry.
Thank you for the response. Now just have to convince myself we need it :-)

pass on plastic roof panels. UV light makes them brittle.

Is it waterproof? Looks like individual panels on the roof, I would think it would still leak in the rain.
I've sat outside during some good downpours. I won't say it's 100% waterproof, but I've only noticed a drip here or there in a couple spots. It mostly has to do with how well you assemble it.

It's pretty well designed so that the individual panels have a piece of overlapping frame that they slide into making it 99% waterproof.

It has 45mph wind rating, and 2500lb snow load capacity.
Should answer questions based on your locale.
Would it work in California? In most parts, yes, but code requires minimum 90 mph for permanent install!
Would it work in Florida? No, definitely not in the hurricane zone

Can this tolerate snow on the roof (Max 2 feet or under), or is it not meant for a cold climate location? I would like to have one such thing so I can place a jacuzzi outdoors and under it for open-air use in winter.

Would it work fine in Big Bear Lake, California (7000ft alt/several winter storms and usually less than 2 feet of snow accumulation on the roof)? And where can I find that code you mention?

How strong is this Polycarbonate roof and how long do they last? would you prefer Polycarbonate roof over metal roof? cost aside any reason to prefer Poly over metal?
I bought this brand but it was a metal roof, while researching, the roof on these don't last. And beware it is a pain to build but saves you money. I love mine and I have a fan hanging from the ceiling.(. Amazon sells one for gazebos)

I have this in 10x12 for the last 5 years. I would say that I should have replaced it last year, but will definitely do so next spring. The panels do start to fade after 1 year and if you do get direct sun like i do, they do start to have these small holes in the first panel (as they are double paneled). they do not leak inside but water and dirt goes on to the 2nd panel. The other thing to know is that it gets very hot under it as the son does go through the panels. my next one will be a regular aluminum/steel one.

This is the main thing that sucks for me. I want a nice gazebo but down here in Florida all it'll take is one hurricane and it'll be destroyed. I know anchoring them down would help but it's just not worth it. I've seen some really expensive ones but even they are only rated for like a cat 2 hurricane I think.

this has polycarbonate panels for the roof, similar to a sunroom. I would suggest comparing cost for a metal roof vs polycarbonate before buying. Thicker panels are quite resistant to bad weather but thinner panels are easier to break as well and I don't see any mention of how many mm the panels are.
