Nice! Microcenter brought this deal back from a couple of weeks ago. They also have the 5090 version to the lowest price of $2999 from $3199. https://www.microcenter.com/produ...ipse-black

That Omen Max has better specs - RTX 5080 and AMD Ryzen 9 ai CPU. This Legion Pro 7i has better build quality and cooling. So it depends what matters most to you for that price point.

Two other major differences. The HP has a great screen, but it doesn't have the insane screen that this OLED is (HP only did OLED in the Intels this generation).

Also the HP has rear power, HDMI and a few other ports. That's a huge thing to me personally (a actual deal breaker, won't own a laptop without at least power+HDMI out the back anymore).

That AI CPU isn't better than the Ultra 9 275X. Whether or not you'll see the CPU difference when running at the screen's native resolution is another question.

Omen Max 16 Intel this year seems to have pretty consistent temperature issues until the entire cooling system is removed and all components are repasted. And you have to remove all of that and repaste to replace the primary SSD. So if that isn't something people want to do then get the Lenovo for sure.

Ryzen AI 9 HX includes a dedicated NPU, which can accelerate AI workloads (image/video upscaling, content creation, productivity), outperforming Intel in tasks specifically optimized for its NPU.

Otherwise it's evenly matched for the most part - both top tier CPUs. The Intel has the more advanced 3nm process but AMD allows for more granular per-core undervolting/overclocking with their Ryzen Master software. Trade offs.

Sure, if you are buying for those activities. Gamins on the other hand, or other traditional productivity program will favor the Intel processor.

The trade off for Lenovo was they removed the ports from the back to improve the cooling and it worked for this generation. The Legion 7 Pro runs cooler and quieter than the Omen Max. If you're using either as a desktop replacement (and you likely should be since these both weight over 8 pounds with their chargers) the Omen is better for a cleaner desktop setup than the Legion but it will be louder and run hotter.

There are other differences as well. Someone already mentioned the OLED vs IPS. There are also 2 TB vs 1 TB, and Windows 11 Pro vs Home edition. All these favor the Lenovo, with only thte 5080 favoring the HP.
Edited forr accuracy
