It's basically ex-gaming Pavilion, very budget laptop. I currently have one. It's cheap, just cheap. You need to protect it very well, I already have crack on the lid because I accidentally dropped the laptop bag.

My last 2 gaming laptops over the last 10-15 years were Lenovo Legions. Last year I bought a Victus because the Lenovo Lenovo LOQ or maybe it was a Legion was $100 more with slightly worse specs. Build quality... it's definitely plastic. Keyboard doesn't feel as nice as the older Legions and I don't really care for typing on it. I don't travel with it often or need to open and close the lid frequently so for my use it's fine. If I traveled frequently I may want something with better build quality. Sometimes I feel like it won't last as long as the prior Lenovos. The one I got doesn't have another slot to add an extra hard drive either which is unfortunate. That said for the price I paid and compared to the other options out there at the time, I was happy enough with my purchase.

I just bought the Intel version with a 4060 and an Intel i5-13420h for school and for what it is I think it's a decent laptop for the price. I will recommend if you do buy an HP laptop you do a fresh install of Windows 11 because the amount of bloatware HP includes with their laptops is ridiculous. I will say the battery life is pretty abysmal lol. I upgraded the RAM and have a 1TB NVME SSD coming from Amazon to upgrade the 500gb of SSD storage this laptop came with. All in all for $800, and $125-$150 worth of upgrades I put into it, the laptop isn't that bad.

2 questions

1) is there a second NVME slot?

2) is there a charge limiter feature in the BIOS? last time i looked into getting a Victus, found out from HP that HP intentionally left the charge limiter out, but the Omen has it (the ability to set the maximum charge to 60%, or 80% etc, to extend the lifespan of the battery)

Omen is definitely a step up from Victus. But this is also the lowest price right now for an RTX 5060 Laptop in the market. If you have money to upgrade to Omen (Micro center has the step up for $200 more - link [microcenter.com]) , I will always recommend that. But if you want to buy a good gaming laptop at the best price, this is for you.

Bought this same model last time it was on sale. I am not a gamer, but I am a power user. I push it really hard, and it has stood up well. I added a second SSD drive for more space, run two external HD monitors (1 via HDMI and one via USB-C hub), I am also looking into adding a third projector with a USB-HDMI connector, and I plan on upgrading the RAM. I also upgraded Windows 11 to Windows 11 Pro via a sale from SS for $10. I am exceptionally happy with the performance of this device compared to the price. Taking the specs and build into consideration, it has met my expectations for demanding tasks.

Last I checked the Victus models don't support a change limit feature. It's unfortunate, and HP is the only major gaming laptop manufacturer to not offer this feature.

victus is the 2nd worst build quality, worst being gigabyte

for $500-700 Acer Nitro is decent quality for 4050/4060. Had a similar acer hold well for 8 years, just use a extra large twin fan tray for $15
