I own 4 of these and never had this issue, even used the flathead as a pry bar. I don't understand how everyone in the other reviews have so many issues. My only issue is I carry it so often that I once brought them sea swimming and forgot to remove it and rusted it.A little CLR and it's back on the work line, still my daily carry.

These are nice if you only use the screwdriver sparingly. If you expect to use the screwdriver regularly, the ball bearing will wear out.

Nah, carpet knifes have thinner blades and work much better on carpet then a utility knife.

This is part of their buy 5, save $30 sale. So you can get any combo of those $19.97 items for $13.97/EA when you get 5. Extra 30% off... Tempting

Milwaukee's Fastback 6 in 1 folding utility knife stands out as a handy everyday carry tool, especially at this multi buy price. The folding bit holder, reversible Phillips and slotted bit, wire stripper, bottle opener, quick change blade system, and belt clip make it versatile, and the knife also has storage for one extra blade. The main caution is the screwdriver bit retention, which can wear out or even lose the ball bearing over time. A practical pick if you want a compact utility knife with useful built in extras.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. This version holds one extra blade, stored between the plastic body and the internal metal retention piece. It is the screwdriver-bit version, not the separate blade-storage model that swaps the screwdriver for a blade holder.

    John LeCarbgmagicDhspam

  • If you want onboard spare-blade storage, the blade-storage model is the better pick because this deal is for the screwdriver-bit version. The blade-storage version is specifically called out as the preferred utility knife by shoppers who want that feature.

    John LeCarJohn LeCarbgmagic

  • The screwdriver is fine for occasional use, but the ball bearing that retains the bit can wear out with regular use. A reported fix is to glue in a tiny magnet to keep the bit seated securely.

  • The 2-pack is $19.97 with free shipping, and the offer also qualifies for Home Depot multi-buy discounts. Buying 5 eligible items drops the effective price to about $13.97 each after the $30 off promotion.

  • Yes. It is described as a strong EDC item, with one user carrying it daily for years and only losing two. The durable clip and compact folding design make it practical for everyday carry.

No its the same size just swaps out the screwdriver for a tiny holder for extra blades.

No they don't. This is the screwdriver version. The blade storage model I'm talking about swaps the screwdriver for a little blade holder:

This one holds one extra blade, I thought that was what you meant when you said it didn't have that.

Yeah, there is some other neat items too, so it isn't hard to reach the $30 discount.

I've had this happen on 2 of mine, and just superglued a tiny magnet in the bottom. Still allows the bit to sit in there pretty good and holds the bit in enough so that it won't fall out. Electrician at my company had the ball bearing fall out of his too, a couple hours after I was explaing how mine fell out and how I fixed it Big Grin

Man, I'm tempted to buy another set. I currently have two but it's a toss up if I can find one when I need it. How many do you think I need to own to always have one available? I'm apparently incapable of putting things away.
lol, I've been wondering the same thing. I'm at 6 blades and am wondering if 8 will be that magic number or it'll never happen regardless how many I buy and I forgo this and just stick with 6.
