This 85 inch Hisense QD7 is framed as a budget giant that shines for size, gaming, and everyday streaming. The 144Hz refresh, Google TV, and 4K playback get strong praise, and the picture is often described as surprisingly good for the price, especially from farther seating distances. The main tradeoffs are weaker black levels than OLED or mini LED, no local dimming, and some concern about Hisense reliability and shipping damage. It looks like a solid large screen value if you want size first and premium contrast second.

  • people shopping for a big 85" budget TV because they want "a big tv on a budget" and don't expect OLED or mini-LED local dimming at this price

  • gamers with a PC who want a large screen for fast refresh because the 144Hz refresh is described as "buttery smooth" when an RTX 5080 is hooked up

  • families who mostly watch 4K streaming and want something that looks good at normal room distances because 4K Netflix/YouTube is reported as smooth and "items pop out in 4K," with kids finding cartoons acceptable

  • owners who care about Google TV responsiveness more than perfect black levels because one 85QD7N owner says Android/Google TV is "snappy" and that the lack of local dimming "doesn't bother" them

  • buyers who want OLED/mini-LED-style contrast and local dimming because multiple comments point out there is "no local dimming" and warn that black levels can't compare to OLED or mini-LED

  • buyers who rely heavily on review scores for the exact model/size because commenters argue the RTINGS results may not match the specific TV they received (e.g., IPS vs QLED/VA mismatch), so the rating may not transfer

  • people who are sensitive to dark-scene and HDR performance because commenters say it's an IPS display and that dark scenes look "horrendous" with "white smears and blotches," recommending not buying for a main TV

  • people who don't want to deal with shipping/returns risk because one buyer says Walmart delivered two broken TVs and the refund took about 6 months with "neverending calls and emails," making the deal feel like a pain

I'd avoid this brand. I had a 65' Hisense that only lasted 3 years in a guest bedroom that was barely turned on. The MAINBOARD on these TVs are a know issue. Look up all the negative issues.

The sad thing is, it is electronics, and there always seems to be a bad one mixed in with good ones. My parents have had a Hisense for more than 6 years, and their TV is still going strong.

riting sucks now. they cheap out and bought the 65 inch version which is crap
75 inch + is excellent across the board

also, their rating leans towards useless metrics way way way too much.
I have the 75" and I get nothing but compliments. It's miles above my Sony in all ways but one: The sound quality of the Sony was nothing to write home about but on the Hisense, the audio is even worse. Both have a bit of backlight bleeding on the sides but it's not noticeable unless you're looking a a bright white screen.

I'm the exact opposite. I can't imagine watching a show on my ipad or phone unless I'm on a plane. I'd rather stab myself in the eye with a pencil.
Same. Even if I'm binging Youtube I'll just throw it up on my TV. Why would I want to stare at a tiny 7" screen?

i have a 75' hisense U7G from 2021 and i still absolutely love it especially for gaming. i have been wondering how some of the later models have held up because honestly this TV is better than alot of more modern sets im sure. The price on this seems good. The scores on RTNGS doesnt seem too good. the one i got was really well reviewed at the time.

I have a 85QD7N and it's easily the best tv I've ever owned. Picture is great. True 144hz refresh is great. Android is great. No local dimming or dark compensation is whatever, but I love it.

I do as well and when I have a tablet on a pillow type holder sitting in my lazy boy with my good Sony headphones on, it's more immersive do one and bring my tablet is that close to me, the picture quilty is better, then looking at my 75 inch tv 17 feet away. I am in the market for a tv for our living room which is long 17-20 feet away view distance, and the room windows don't get a ton of direct light, I am considering going with a projector over a TV. We usually watch the news together in the AM and then we will watch some movies or series together over the weekends in evenings. The only pain in the ass part of the set up would be running power to ceiling mount projector and hdmi cord to receiver, but I could get those plastic channels to do that part of it. But all said and done would I be better served going with a 100 inch mid tier Costco TV. Hummm. Don't want to pay over 2k for setup

some people are funny... you're playing $650 for a 85" budget tv and people expect it to be "OLED" or "Mini-LED" with local dimming lol. If you want an oled or mini led go spend the money and buy it. This is a big 85" tv for people that want a big tv on a budget it's that simple.
