This 85 inch Hisense QD7 is framed as a budget giant that shines for size, gaming, and everyday streaming. The 144Hz refresh, Google TV, and 4K playback get strong praise, and the picture is often described as surprisingly good for the price, especially from farther seating distances. The main tradeoffs are weaker black levels than OLED or mini LED, no local dimming, and some concern about Hisense reliability and shipping damage. It looks like a solid large screen value if you want size first and premium contrast second.
people shopping for a big 85" budget TV because they want "a big tv on a budget" and don't expect OLED or mini-LED local dimming at this price
families who mostly watch 4K streaming and want something that looks good at normal room distances because 4K Netflix/YouTube is reported as smooth and "items pop out in 4K," with kids finding cartoons acceptable
owners who care about Google TV responsiveness more than perfect black levels because one 85QD7N owner says Android/Google TV is "snappy" and that the lack of local dimming "doesn't bother" them
buyers who want OLED/mini-LED-style contrast and local dimming because multiple comments point out there is "no local dimming" and warn that black levels can't compare to OLED or mini-LED
buyers who rely heavily on review scores for the exact model/size because commenters argue the RTINGS results may not match the specific TV they received (e.g., IPS vs QLED/VA mismatch), so the rating may not transfer
people who are sensitive to dark-scene and HDR performance because commenters say it's an IPS display and that dark scenes look "horrendous" with "white smears and blotches," recommending not buying for a main TV
people who don't want to deal with shipping/returns risk because one buyer says Walmart delivered two broken TVs and the refund took about 6 months with "neverending calls and emails," making the deal feel like a pain
At around $648-$650, it is framed as a strong value if you want a very large TV on a budget. It is best suited for viewers sitting roughly 15-20 feet away who want size and decent picture quality rather than OLED or mini-LED black levels.
The 85-inch QD7/QD75N is described as a VA panel, while the 75-inch and smaller versions are described as IPS. That matters because VA panels generally handle blacks better than IPS, so size-specific reviews may not transfer cleanly.
No local dimming is listed for this model. That means it will not match mini-LED or OLED black levels, especially in dark scenes, but it can still be a solid budget 85-inch for casual viewing.
Yes, the 85QD7N is reported to support true 144Hz refresh and feels very smooth with a gaming PC. It has also been praised for gaming on earlier Hisense models, making it a strong budget option if you want a large high-refresh display.
An extended warranty is commonly recommended for this size, with one estimate putting it around $100 for 4 years. The reason is simple: the TV is a budget large-screen model, and longevity is uncertain enough that warranty coverage can be worth it.
I'd avoid this brand. I had a 65' Hisense that only lasted 3 years in a guest bedroom that was barely turned on. The MAINBOARD on these TVs are a know issue. Look up all the negative issues.
Buy the extended warranty. When it dies they either replace it or you shop with your cash back on a newer generation model and /or brand
this a good deal just please don't buy it if you are gonna sit less than 15 to 20 feet from the tv..its a big tv and sypposed to be enjoyed from a distance..for 85 inches this such a clutch deal..plz don't rely on rtings for everything. if u are not a tv enthusiast and i mean hardcore plz just go and buy this tv
This is an IPS display. If you are using this for your main tv I strongly suggest not buying it. They don't display blacks and can't do HDR. Any dark scenes will look horrendous and have white smears and blotches all over the screen. You don't have to buy OLED to get a good picture. VA sets are cheaper and will have much better picture quality than this one.

I was going off the rtings review which said the score was valid for the 85" as well so I guess it's a toss up what you'll get:
We bought and tested the 65-inch Hisense QD7N, and the results are also valid for the 75, 85, and 100-inch models. Costco sells an 85-inch variant of the TV in the US known as the Hisense QD75N, but it performs the same and comes with an extended warranty and other store-specific perks.
I will never buy a tv from Walmart again. They delivered me 2 broken televisions and it took 6 months to get refunded. Neverending calls and emails. I got one of the Hisense deals on here and it turned out to be such a pain.
Just got this TV in today. I must say, $650 for an 85" is incredible. I have a 65" C9 OLED that I paid several thousand dollars for years ago, so being able to get an 85" for this price is just amazing.
While the black levels of this TV can't compare to an OLED or mini LED, it's still quite decent if you're just looking for a large TV to casually watch on. Even when sitting 15ft away, the screen size is just great. The onboard Google TV is snappy and watching 4K content on Netflix and YouTube is smooth without a hitch. I have a RTX 5080 gaming PC hooked up and 144hz is buttery smooth on such a large screen.
This is my first Hisense TV, so I cannot attest to the longevity, so I got the extra warranty coverage but hopefully it will not be needed. Hard to beat if you're on a budget and just looking for a very large TV with some decent features.
I bought it. Scared from all the comments and rating. Com reviews but surprised. Play the 4k content to see what potential ut really has. Sitting 8-10 feet away and kuds love this. Items pop out in 4k content. Cartoons less but kids arent looking for the extra detail. Watch a family movie last night and was great. For this price if 649 and 800 total including tax and 5 year warranty, beautiful. Still looking at black friday deals to make final decision on keeping or not but looking like this is a keeper.

You should have said all of your TVs suck, because a lot of people bought this brand, and their TVs are still going strong. Maybe you get power surges.
