This reminds me that I still haven't opened the box on the 10k version (Tri Fuel, electric start etc) that I got for $500 years ago from a SD deal lol.

Noise level? Open frames tend to be noisy. I don't need this much output, so if anyone has a recommendation for a smaller Tri-fuel, want NG, please share. Thanks.

Dumb question: how the heck do I figure out how much output is needed? I'm trying to help an elderly family member who wants a generator. I understand that I need to make a list of the things that I want to power in an emergency, but how do I find out how much each one needs? If I download the specifications for, let's say the HVAC unit they have, which number do I use from that to add up the total?
Like I said, I know it's a dumb question, but I just can't quite grok this topic, lol.

You can use generic values but it would be best to gather info on specific pieces of equipment. It shouldn't be onerous as it's not like you need to look up how much each light bulb uses, just major items. Also keep in mind what your intentions are - just to get by for a day or 2 or live as if the mains weren't out. Those likely have 2 different answers.
