the only differences are really 3 things: S11 cellular gets 5G, aluminum S11 watches get a ceramic coated Ion-X glass that's supposed to be twice as scratch resistant as the untreated Ion-X glass on aluminum S10 models, and lastly the battery life on a single charge "improved" (in part because battery capacity got a decent 10% increase, but also because Apple fudged and tweaked the way they test battery runtime by reducing frequency of time checks and active screen time. you can check this for yourself by comparing the battery testing methodology in the footnotes on the compare page with S11 and S10 pulled up side-by-side)
the point is, don't expect a significant jump in battery life between S10 and S11
imo this is just an ok deal for cellular and there's a chance there might be something better when bf / cyber monday roll around, but who knows
Series 11 also uses the same S10 SiP as Series 10
personally, I got an S10 during Target's one day sale about a month ago and am very happy with it after checking out Series 11 in an Apple Store and seeing effectively 0 tangible differences
This 42mm Apple Watch Series 10 GPS and Cellular deal stands out for health tracking and everyday convenience, especially if you want Apple Health features, notifications, reminders, timers, music control, and quick wrist access to calls and messages. Cellular adds phone free use, but it requires a carrier watch plan that is typically about $10 per month. The main caution is that Series 11 is only a small step up, with 5G on cellular models and a modest battery change, so Series 10 remains very similar. A solid pick if those features matter more than chasing the newest model.
Apple Watch owners who want everyday wrist convenience, because it can handle reminders, timers, calls, music control, and phone-free notifications.
People who want the newest generation features, because this model is one generation old and lacks the newer 5G cellular and scratch-resistant glass changes.
Battery life expectations may not improve much versus Series 10 because Series 11's gains can be tied to testing methodology and only incremental capacity changes.
Yes. It can track workouts, sleep, and other health data, and it also handles reminders, timers, messages, calls, music control, wrist alarms, MacBook unlock, and Apple Maps turn alerts. Several comments also mention EKG and other health features as useful for monitoring.
The thread says this $299 offer is about $100 below the next best reputable price starting at $399. It also notes the watch has been seen at $229 before, so this is a solid discount but not the lowest price mentioned.
Series 11 is described as mostly identical to Series 10, with the main differences being 5G on cellular models, a ceramic-coated Ion-X glass on aluminum models, and a modest battery-life change. The same S10 SiP is used, so a big real-world upgrade is not expected.
Yes. Cellular models need a watch add-on on your mobile carrier plan, typically around $10 per month, though some plans include it. Without that add-on, the cellular feature will not work.

I ordered and then cancelled because I realized that this is 1 generation old. Series 11 has new dark silver color and has 24 hours of battery vs 18.
fwiw S11 is mostly identical to S10

Genuinely asking - how do you guys who own smart watches justify them? Most of the benefits I see aren't really huge benefits in my eyes... besides maybe Apple Pay. I guess if you have a heart condition, the beats per minute are helpful to watch... but anything else? I dunno. It just doesn't seem like it's there yet to me but maybe I'm missing something.

I am still using ancient series 3 Apple Watch from 6+ years ago. The battery still runs strong. The justification for me is that my employer has medical premium benefit if I record exercise time every month and satisfy some requirements. It saves me $2k+ per year on my medical premium, so well worth the money.

I guess you are not into sports at all. To me non smart watches have no value at all. Who uses watch to check tha time now when most people faces are constantly in their phones. The only reason to have non-smart watch a good jewelry grade luxury watches for the people that love jewelry and collectors.

Apple Health software and algorithms may eventually save your life - the watch is essentially an always on health monitor and can find cardio problems. This is probably number one reason to get particularly Apple - nobody is even close to the health data that Apple uses.
Besides that, it is convenient for getting notifications.
