Was 12.49 in January in black. I might pick up a few more of these. They're a lot easier to handle than the 17-gallone version.

No. But you can use cheap weatherstripping and get the job done. A bead of silicone might do the same.

I did too. I wouldn't mind something slightly thinner and narrower.

Thank you for the suggestion, but to me it defeats the purpose if I need to add something to make this really "for outdoor use". Wouldn't something like this make more sense or am I comparing apples to oranges? https://www.walmart.com/ip/Steril.../107543065

The plastic of the lid overlaps quite robustly with the plastic of the container. It is unlikely in normal circumstances that bugs/dust/water would get in there. If your outdoor use does NOT involve leaving it upside down or on its side in the rain then it is going to be fine.
And yes, you are kind of comparing apples and oranges. I prefer the smaller size of the Plano to keep the weight down, and it's just easier to carry around the house. The Plano is much stronger. I am able to stand on them as a stool--215 pounds. Clear can be nice to see what's inside, but can also look sloppy. Only two latches on the Plano is easier than 6 flimsy latches on the Sterilite.
These Planos are the only totes I buy. I have ~30 of them.

Why does it matter? (This is a genuine question, just wondering what are you trying to store that requires a gasket around the lid?)

For more than 2 years, I've been keeping supplies in several of these Plano boxes on my recreational property, exposed to a rainy climate with occasional snow. Nothing got wet even once. It's a good idea to keep them in the shade, though, because sunlight does degrade plastic.

No, but there are videos on youtube of people who add one too them.
