  • About this deal:
    • This offer is $10 more than our most recent previous frontpage deal from September which garnered over 30 thumbs up. However, considering the recent surge in RAM prices, I would consider this a trivial increase. An older previous frontpage deal from August garnered over 30 thumbs up at $1279.

The ThinkPad P14s Gen 6 stands out as a compact work laptop with a strong keyboard, upward firing speakers, built in RJ 45 Ethernet, and a sharp 2.8K OLED adaptive refresh display. The 64GB memory and 1TB storage feel generous for Windows 11 and future heavier software, even if that much RAM is more than most workloads need today. The main drawbacks are the 52Wh battery, which is called out as the weak point, and the OLED panel, which can mean more flicker, burn in risk, and shorter battery life than the low power LCD option. It is a capable portable workstation if the screen and battery tradeoffs fit your use.

  • people who want a ThinkPad for daily work where they care about the keyboard, upward-firing speakers, and having a built-in RJ-45 Ethernet port because commenters say the P14s Gen 6 is better for those day-to-day features.

  • software developers and AI workers who specifically need Windows 11 headroom and plan to keep the machine for a while because one commenter says the 64GB is a nice Windows 11 buffer and speculates AI-written software could be more memory-hungry.

  • buyers who will use the laptop with a WWAN/5G card for "instant internet everywhere" because a commenter added a 5G WWAN card (plug and play) and said it was a game changer for connectivity on the go.

  • buyers who need strong battery life for heavy use because multiple commenters call the ~52Wh battery "pretty brutal" and say they only saw about 2.5-3 hours with full brightness and WWAN on.

  • people hoping to add WWAN later as an after-market upgrade without checking compatibility because commenters warn it's a bad idea unless the machine is WWAN-ready (antennas/heat sinks are integrated), and that most US ThinkPads aren't set up for it.

  • people who sit in front of their PC for long sessions and are sensitive to eye strain because one commenter argues OLED on these ThinkPads is a poor choice for extended desk use due to PWM dimming and potential eye strain, plus burn-in/static desktop concerns.

  • buyers who want a 14-inch screen for software development and AI work because one commenter says 14 inch is too small for their needs and is hoping for a 16-inch version instead.

These are fantastic machines! I bought one last year and immediately added a 5G WWAN card that was plug and play. Having instant on Internet everywhere I went without having to tether was a game changer. Sadly, I'm having to sell now (just listed) because I'm forced to macOS for programming purposes.

Arguably this screen is hands down better than macpros I'm currently using.

If anyone purchases a WWAN card it will set you back about $250-300ish but worth it!!! (Unless you find a great deal on one🤣)

I was seeing about 2.5-3hrs of battery under different/heavy usage with full brightness And WWAN on (and only charged to 80%). As everyone has mentioned the battery is the Achilles heel but definitely manageable if charging to 100% and utilizing power saving measures
This is a bad idea unless the machine is WWAN ready, which most machines in the US are not. You can configure most ThinkPads (except E-series) with WWAN out of the factory - it is not just the radio, but the antenna (and heat sinks to keep the antenna cool), which are snaked throughout the system. This is not a good after market option.

I need it for my software development and AI work. But 14 inch screen is too small. Hopefully the 16 will go on sale soon.
It's on sale for 200 more

Why do people need 64g ram
Having double the minimum amount of RAM for Windows 11 to function is a nice perk. Who knows how inefficient software will be once it is all written by AI. Likely dramatically so. The issue here is the Ryzen 350. It kinda sucks. The 365/370/375 is phenomenal however. Seems oddly specc'd out given the memory provided. Also kinda sucks the memory isn't soldered DDR5 instead (SODIMM are very slow by comparison and memory speed is a SIGNIFICANT factor in performance of these SoCs).

You must've missed the part in the specs that read WWAN-Ready, which translates; antennas installed, card needed. I can't imagine people are buying WWAN cards and installing and thinking they will receive internet anywhere.

I think the post is incorrect,. I know that the US doesn't do WWAN ready models. Look at PSREF - not a single model is WWAN enabled.

Is there a way to remove Windows 11 from this deal? Also BUYMORELENOVO doesn't work for me, it shows code is invalid. But the final price shown is $1,129 somehow... (shows: 2189-1100)

Best laptop bag for this notebook? I've found Lenovo's offerings a bit tight. Extra points for a splash of color!
