This Legion 5 stands out as a light 15.1 inch gaming laptop with an OLED 165 hertz screen, factory calibration, and strong upgrade potential from its two RAM slots and two SSD slots. The chassis weighs about 4.2 pounds, and the higher TDP and 245 watt charger point to better gaming headroom than thinner rivals. The main knocks are the 512 gigabyte SSD, the awkward number pad layout, and reports that USB C charging can cut gaming power sharply. Walmart also brings easier returns than Lenovo, making the deal more flexible if a better price appears later.

The laptop supports 100W USB-C charging, which can help for travel power setups.

The chassis offers two RAM slots and two SSD slots, enabling straightforward storage and memory upgrades.

Walmart purchase can simplify returns with easy in-store processing through end of January.
fatguypoolshark
The screen is described as factory calibrated, which can reduce the need for immediate display tuning.

Gaming performance can drop when charging through 100W USB-C because the GPU can pull only around 45W.
tonu42
The keyboard layout can feel awkward because the 15.1-inch model includes a numberpad.

USB-C charging during heavy gaming may degrade the battery quickly on many models.
zhamilton05
The 512GB storage capacity is criticized as inadequate for the price, with the storage called beyond wack.

Common Questions (5)

This listing is for the 512GB SSD model, while a prior Lenovo deal and some Lenovo configurations were 1TB. The 1TB version has been seen at about $994.99 with email signup and EXTRAFIVE, but that coupon is targeted and not available to everyone.

Buying from Walmart means you deal with Walmart for support and returns, with in-store returns available through the end of January. Lenovo orders can also be delayed, and Walmart has been described as the safer option if a better deal appears soon.
EricJ3237 fatguypoolshark juniorrose
The laptop itself weighs about 4.2 lb, and the power brick adds roughly another 1 lb with cords. That makes it relatively light for a gaming laptop, especially compared with a Legion 5 Pro.
fatguypoolshark az060693
It can charge from a 100W USB-C adapter, but gaming performance drops because the GPU is limited to around 45W. A 135W Slim connector charger can raise GPU power to about 75W, but heavy gaming on USB-C charging can degrade the battery quickly.
tonu42 zhamilton05
Yes. It has 2 RAM slots with 1 occupied and 2 SSD slots with 1 occupied, so both memory and storage can be expanded later.

No it's not, it's $1045 at Lenovo. Which coupons are you referring to?

Email sign up coupins don't count as they are targeted and not available to everyone.
It was $999 a month ago without any such sign up codes with only 2 working coupons.
If the sign up code works for you, then good for you.

Great price. Very light for a gaming laptop, similar to the Zephyrus G16, and the screen is factory calibrated.

Toss in an extra SSD and ram and you're good to go.

Has a higher TDP too; the charger is 245w vs the 200w of the G16 (for the 5060 SKU).

This is kind of apples and oranges but does anyone have an informed opinion on this Legion vs the Omnibook open box deal? Looking for technical considerations for non-gaming use, primarily large PowerPoint, PDF and Excel files with 80+ browser tabs and mostly "plugged in" use. The HP touchscreen means nothing to me but I don't have a sense for whether the Legion is going to perform any better with heavy memory use that isn't taking advantage of the gaming-spec GPU. The $200 difference is also not material to me between these two options. Appreciate anyone's insights!

Very different laptops and very different sizes.

Get the HP if you don't plan on gaming or using GPU heavy workloads.

It can be charged via 100W USB C but gaming performance takes a big nose dive, the GPU can only pull around 45watts.

Yikes, don't do heavy gaming on USB-C charging. It's known on many models to degrade the battery quickly.

Could we expect same price $950 from Lenovo/Bestbuy/MC during BF? Prefer them over this antonline store.
