Steep price drop for such a new product and real world user reviews are pretty rough

Actually the reviews are decent for espresso, so-so for filter coffee.

Really? Searching reddit, I'm seeing a lot of stories about jamming, issues with the hopper, and poor customer service/response times under the new corporate overlords but I'm a complete novice when it comes to these things so no real knowledge/basis to compare against.

Relatively new iteration on a beloved coffee grinder. Great deal if you're looking for an upgrade.

I looked at this ESP Pro and the Shardor 64. I went with the Shardor at 169.00 even with the Baratza being $100 off. I would have gone with the Baratza if the company wasn't just bought out and if the Reddit reviews were better regarding jamming etc. The only downside I can see for the Shardor is the new-ness of the company and some Reddit comments on burr alignment which, honestly, I doubt using a layer of aluminum foil to adjust by 0.001" is going to register on my unsophisticated palate.

People talking about it being bought out as if Breville doesn't produce quality products lmao. That being said, I was expecting this because the Virtuoso+ is now technically cheaper than the Encore, despite being more of a workhorse. This puts the products more in line with features.

It's not necessarily that Breville now owns them, it's that the customer service quality, for which Baratza was lauded, has suffered since the acquisition, maybe it's just average now? In any case, the reddit reviews on this item regarding jamming etc. seem legit. I love the feature set on this grinder maybe they'll work out the bugs!

Makes sense. I have a Virtuoso+, but I want a dedicated espresso grinder so I'm gonna give this a try alongside. Unless I see a Sette or Vario go on sale for BF, this is a solid deal. And if this new Breville Baratza truly does suck, maybe I'll jump on the Eureka bandwagon finally.

Yeah, with ultra light roast it jams. But most espresso users will not use ultra light roast coffee beans. If you are using medium/city+ roast levels, these seem to do alright with Espresso.
