Bought this bike several months ago for $400 and have just under 100 miles riding it. If you aren't willing and able to tinker/tune-up a bicycle, this bike is not for you. I'm an engineer and very mechanically inclined. My bike was missing a steering head stem bolt, front rotor was warped, brakes were WAY out of adjustment and the derailer needed to be adjusted too. This is a 6 speed bike, NOT 7. The shifter on the handle bar has 7 speeds but the derailer has 6 and doesn't have adjustability to hit the 6th gear. Check bolt torque on EVERY bolt. Nearly all bolts were barely hand tight. When airing up the tires, take time to center the tube in the wheel and that the tire bead sits on the inside lip of the wheel. Took me a few attempts to get it right. Aliexpress customer service is non-existent, if there's an issue you are on your own. Buyer be warned. This bike sits pretty high, if you are height challenged, it may feel awkward for you.
This is a China parts bin bike, you can find replacement parts for everything but you've got to search! Rotors are a bit of pain to find due to the odd center to center bolt spacing. Youtube the video on assembly, it might save you a few mins of head scratching.
I hate how the front wheel mounts to the forks. Under braking, the entire assembly torques on the front forks. TBH, this bike is scarily built for doing 28 mph. I've ridden motorcycles since I was a teen and joke I should wear a full track suit and helmet with it.
The mechanical brakes are horrible for a bike this heavy that'll go this fast. As long as you recognize you cannot stop on a dime at 20+mph then ok.
Note this is a class 3 bike technically. If you ride in parks for only class 2, only use PAS mode 2 (19mph cap). Get a class 2 sticker and you'll "technically" be compliant. Other bikers may get pissed off if you're ripping past them at 20+! This is a novice trail bike. If you jump this bike more than a foot you don't expect to land in one piece.

The parts are usually commoditized/generic and can be found on ali express/amazon, but depends on the bike. Don't expect anyone to come repair it though. At best you will have parts sent to you and you swap it or hope your local bike shop is willing to work on it for a cost. That said, they aren't hard to work on if you have basic mechanic skills. The only special tool I needed in addition to a basic tool set was a crank arm puller and a spider nut, both of which can be had for ~$20 on Amazon, and it's rare you need to pull those off. I just wanted longer crank arms.

Same here I have three entry level china e bikes I purchased some years back at near twice this price and all have been fine. Just got back from 30 mile trip today.

I compare my build quality to some much higher end bikes and see little or no difference. I also warn it is the higher end bike makers are closing up shop as ebikes become more of a commodity and they will be the bikes you are less likely to find a parts for. Higher end and over engineered things have more proprietary parts and always cost more and are harder to repair than the more common versions. It is part of the marketing strategy to make them that way.

I always wonder about these Chinese bikes. If something breaks, is it easy to get warranty service? Easy/cheap to get replacements parts?
Make sure you keep the giant box and be ready to ship the bike at your expense. My bike has error code e10 after 18 miles of usages. They said they'll refund the shipping cost.

How is that even in ali express people have different responses like one says amazing to ride and able to setup correctly without any damage due to great packing while other one says missing screw or banged up display? I guess at this point best to stay away. Even Amazon has similar reviews and one thing to watch out is whoever is selling is not the manufacturer so meaning, you will be stuck between the seller vs manufacturer vs market place. A bit risky but want to experience positive encounters like all other slickdealers

You get the luck of the draw. Even if the bike was made perfectly, it can get damaged in transit by the shipping company. Then you're stuck either trying to repair yourself, spend money at the bike store to repair it, or hassle of shipping back which they might try to stick you with shipping costs. If you get lucky you have a bike that can last a few years before disposing and buying another cheap bike.

Can anyone speculate if using a credit card for the payment form via PayPal , does that protection on the credit card not still apply?Or is that layer somehow nullified through PayPal?Would like to understand that for future clarity.
I wouldn't advise it, because the claim will have to go through PayPal who takes forever doing claims.

You are correct I did just what you say and I apologize. In my defense I was arguing against a vibe I run across much to often that drives me crazy. People offered just the bike I pulled the review from as one you get great support for. They threw another expensive brand as another alternative and they also had a terrible reputation and got the same type reviews. Both brands were made in China.I am glad and very interested in hearing there are some lower priced ebikes that are offering decent support. I met a guy that had one I never heard of from small bike shop and I think he paid about $800 which I thought pretty good. It was very very nice looking and well built bike from what I could see and tell. Have no idea as to what support the maker or the shop is offering him but am sure he is getting something. Maybe the small local shops with cheaper China bikes will come to dominate the market.
All good my man, no offense taken. Ive seen plenty of the same vibe, the ebike market is one of the strangest ones I've interfaced with. All the good ones are technically illegal, and the expensive brand names ones are 3-10k to go 20-28mph.....Truly wish the country would stop being weird trying to regulate it and let the market flourish. I would love a proper local ebike shop without having to move to California or NY. My bike shop only sells treks. It sucks haha. Im considering going DIY and doing a conversion on one

I'm with you the one I mentioned seeing that a elderly gentleman had was from a small place in one of the more rural areas of Maryland but it was a bike shop. I'm with you on the second as well. We were pushed to go electric and when we do they now hate us.

Here is my short review on this bike. Owned it 2 months, pedals toss in the trash. The brake pads order semi metallic off Amazon as the ones on the bike make awful noise. It's not really an offroad bike as it lacks torque. On the streets it moves great 👍 I am 6ft 260lbs and I can hit 29mph max. I use it to save gas on small repairs I used to drive my v8 truck across town to the jobs.

Link to brake pads?
Is it just noise or is the engagement also poor on the original pads?

What specifically makes the pedals worth replacing for a casual user?

Got this specifically to prove out the concept of e-bikes for a parent that has trouble keeping up with our family rides, so looking for any other details to both check and take care of before handing it over for usage.

I was wondering if anyone else is having problems with their order? I purchased the ebike when the deal went live. AliExpress refused to honor the PayPal discount even though it was still valid at the time of purchase. I sent them screenshots and supporting evidence, but they still refused to honor the discount. I ended up paying $349 after tax and 1% discount using coins. After the pricing dispute, everything seemed to be OK. I received a tracking number and the shipment started making its way from the CA warehouse and was scheduled to arrive on Friday. This morning I noticed a "shipment exception". I called FedEx and the CS rep said that the ebike was not paid for and I'd have to contact the seller. Obviously, it was paid for, I have the order confirmation, PayPal receipt, and charge to the corresponding credit card. I'm waiting to hear back from the seller.
I have the same FedEx status:

3:48 AM
Left FedEx origin facility
WALNUT, CA
4:52 PM
On the way
TUCSON, AZ
7:39 PM

Have you heard anything else?

From the seller: Hello, dear customer. Don't worry. We contacted FedEx yesterday to handle this matter. There's no need to worry. The delivery will resume shortly. You just need to wait patiently and you'll receive the bicycle soon.

FedEx still has it listed as a shipment exception and it hasn't moved yet. I guess we have to wait and see. I hope the bike doesn't get beat up with the extra handling caused by the delays. It looks like the seller did not provide all the necessary shipping information. I find this odd since I have literally ordered hundreds of items from AliExpress over the years and this is the only time I've encountered a problem like this.

Ha! Welcome to the ideological hot zone. I bought this bike a few months ago, and I love it. I just keep revisiting these threads for the discussion. I've built bikes and ordered them from factories my whole life and know that tiny parts rattle off during shipping and a bike shops stay in business by charging hundreds of dollars to replace those parts and by making sure they are assembled correctly. They also do the footwork getting warranty parts ordered and installing them for the customer. Seems like people who don't have experience with minor adjustment and repair are expecting that level of customer service from Aliexpress or a foreign factory. The other problem is that the US has completely lost out in almost ever link in the chain of the commuter ebike market. I see thousands of these things every time I go overseas, and here we worry that they are gonna blow up or can't figure out who can do some simple repair. There are some really thoughtful people on these threads, but the overarching discussion in the US role in a world that is increasingly dominated by China. They are not gonna play our customer is always right (no matter how wrong) game, and the big question is are we gonna create fear and not play, or are we gonna play by their rules since we have no options? Just by 2 cents. But going back to the bike, I love mine and this is a crazy slick deal if you are willing to do some tinkering.
