Bought this bike several months ago for $400 and have just under 100 miles riding it. If you aren't willing and able to tinker/tune-up a bicycle, this bike is not for you. I'm an engineer and very mechanically inclined. My bike was missing a steering head stem bolt, front rotor was warped, brakes were WAY out of adjustment and the derailer needed to be adjusted too. This is a 6 speed bike, NOT 7. The shifter on the handle bar has 7 speeds but the derailer has 6 and doesn't have adjustability to hit the 6th gear. Check bolt torque on EVERY bolt. Nearly all bolts were barely hand tight. When airing up the tires, take time to center the tube in the wheel and that the tire bead sits on the inside lip of the wheel. Took me a few attempts to get it right. Aliexpress customer service is non-existent, if there's an issue you are on your own. Buyer be warned. This bike sits pretty high, if you are height challenged, it may feel awkward for you.
This is a China parts bin bike, you can find replacement parts for everything but you've got to search! Rotors are a bit of pain to find due to the odd center to center bolt spacing. Youtube the video on assembly, it might save you a few mins of head scratching.
I hate how the front wheel mounts to the forks. Under braking, the entire assembly torques on the front forks. TBH, this bike is scarily built for doing 28 mph. I've ridden motorcycles since I was a teen and joke I should wear a full track suit and helmet with it.
The mechanical brakes are horrible for a bike this heavy that'll go this fast. As long as you recognize you cannot stop on a dime at 20+mph then ok.
Note this is a class 3 bike technically. If you ride in parks for only class 2, only use PAS mode 2 (19mph cap). Get a class 2 sticker and you'll "technically" be compliant. Other bikers may get pissed off if you're ripping past them at 20+! This is a novice trail bike. If you jump this bike more than a foot you don't expect to land in one piece.

The parts are usually commoditized/generic and can be found on ali express/amazon, but depends on the bike. Don't expect anyone to come repair it though. At best you will have parts sent to you and you swap it or hope your local bike shop is willing to work on it for a cost. That said, they aren't hard to work on if you have basic mechanic skills. The only special tool I needed in addition to a basic tool set was a crank arm puller and a spider nut, both of which can be had for ~$20 on Amazon, and it's rare you need to pull those off. I just wanted longer crank arms.

Same here I have three entry level china e bikes I purchased some years back at near twice this price and all have been fine. Just got back from 30 mile trip today.

I compare my build quality to some much higher end bikes and see little or no difference. I also warn it is the higher end bike makers are closing up shop as ebikes become more of a commodity and they will be the bikes you are less likely to find a parts for. Higher end and over engineered things have more proprietary parts and always cost more and are harder to repair than the more common versions. It is part of the marketing strategy to make them that way.

How are the battery packs? The individual cells might be ok, but the full pack assembly matters. If it's not done right it can still catch fire. Is it LiFePO4 or something else? Is it UL certified or equivalent?

I always wonder about these Chinese bikes. If something breaks, is it easy to get warranty service? Easy/cheap to get replacements parts?
They're all Chinese or foreign made. The only ones made here are the $5000+ brands and they still have Chinese parts. It matters what company is manufacturing them and if the battery packs are certified.

Well i ordered mine Nov 11 and received it today Nov 18.

Holy shit this thing is amazing for the $331 i payed out the door with tax.

Box was in great condition besides a few scrapes on the right side delivered by Fedex.

Assembly was simple, I went ahead and removed the cranks and crank set off to torque the square tapered bottom bracket just to be safe. I put 50 ft lbs of torque on the wrench and nothing budged in the slightest so it is at the very least not loose lol. There was no grease on the tapered bits btw.

I found three pieces (bolt, knut, spacer for the lamp/fender) free floating in the bottom of the box everything else was nicely packaged.

Came with the tools needed to assemble.

I am not a fan of the PAS power application (full boost to 10mph) but it gets the job done if you are expecting it.

There is a P12 setting you can adjust in the display but it does not seem to be doing anything.

Overall im amazed by this deal now i just have to wait for snow for this to be worth the space it takes up as it is massive.

My 5'6 sister was not willing to test it because she couldnt stand upright over the bar while still. I'm 5'10 its awesome for me.

Not particular maneuverable but it works for commuting. I'm not going over 15MPH for safety reasons as i feel cars never expect a bicycle to be going faster than that but even then the brakes feel a bit lacking.

EDIT: Does anyone know how to make the tail light work as a running light instead of just a brake light?? cant figure it out

EDIT: THIS BIKES RANGE IS PRETTY BAD. I rode 10 miles with constant pedaling and lost 2 bars of charge lol. My 10 year old RADPower bike with the same battery specs typically does not even lose one bar on that route so i'm beginning to think this battery is doesn't come close to advertised specs. I have the tires inflated to 30 psi as that is the maximum according to the sidewall. instructions of the bike itself say dont go over 20psi.

Also according to the guy below his tail light functions out of the box and mine is malfunctioning which is sad.

Push the headlight button and the headlight/taillight will be on. Then brake light as brakes are pulled. It's a cool bike.

I was watching videos of someone testing a citibike and they were jumping off shed roofs and only collapsing the front rim when landing too much into the front. These bikes look stronger?

Why would they encourage PayPal? Only thing I can think of is it's so you can't charge back on your credit card when they provide no customer service? Surely fees are not cheaper on their end?
You absolutely can do a chargeback if you use Paypal. Set up your Paypal to use a credit card only and never give them bank account access!

That is terrible advice and you have it exactly backward. There are people right now in various deals here that took such advice and are getting hit with fees from PayPal due to using it how you advise.

You are better to have them pull funds from bank account as you do gain buyer protection for basically a cash transaction and will not pay those fees.

BUT Linking a CC to PayPal and having PayPal pulling funds from it just brings in fees, crazy bookkeeping and loss of CC protection. All I see are downsides.

As to the bookkeeping it is just crazy. You buy something at Ali, Paypal charges your CC for a transfer to them and then they transfer that money as cash to the mechant. From your CC you bought no bike at Ali you just transferred money to Paypal.

You pay foreign currency fees both set and percentage that you will not pay of you use a CC directly on Ali. Second you lose CC dispute protection as you did not pay the merchant with you CC as the CC just see you paid PayPal. Paypal appears to not offer the same level of protection that most CC do.

Why bring a second party into a trasction when it only costs you?

Yes, in some cases, using PayPal with a credit card for AliExpress purchases is incorrectly triggering cash advance fees from credit card companies, which appear to be adding extra costs on top of the purchase price. This seems to be a recent issue, possibly a technical glitch, with multiple users reporting fees as high as $10-$30 or more per transaction. It appears to only affect U.S. customers and is not an official AliExpress or PayPal policy.
Why this is happening
Technical glitch: The transaction is being miscoded as a "cash advance" by some credit card companies, even though it's a standard goods and services purchase through PayPal.
International transaction issues: While PayPal itself doesn't charge a cash advance fee, the international nature of the AliExpress transaction and the way it's being processed can cause this misclassification by some banks.
Escalation issues: Both AliExpress and PayPal have been directing customers to the other or to their credit card company, and neither has been able to resolve the issue for them.
How to avoid the fees

Do not use PayPal with a credit card: It's best to avoid this combination for now to prevent unexpected fees.
Use a direct credit card payment: Some users have reported that paying directly with a credit card on AliExpress (without using PayPal) works without incurring these specific fees.
Pay with an alternative method: If possible, use other payment methods like a bank account or a debit card for your PayPal payment, as it appears to be the credit card combination that triggers the problem.

What to do if you've already been charged
Contact your credit card company: Although customer service may not be able to help immediately, there have been past instances where companies resolved these issues after escalation.
Dispute the charge: You can open a dispute with your credit card company for the cash advance fee, but be prepared for potential challenges.
Open a PayPal dispute: You can also open a dispute through PayPal, which provides a formal process for resolving the issue.

I don't trust AliExpress!
I bought scuba flashlights, a 3 and 5 mm wetsuit, jerseys (back when they sold them) Yeti knockoff back in the day, hammock and stand, android touchscreen for my Jetta, and various other items over 10 year period. Price was always 3/4 from retail, shipping sometimes took a while but never have had a problem.

Do I dare to try again or will this be the definition of insanity; continue to do the same thing but expect a different outcome?

It's a great price but I'd still like to know how many people actually got the bike. This deal seems like a real gamble on if you will actually receive it, and if you do will it arrive damaged.

Always people acting like working on these bikes requires a degree. If you have basic technical ability and can watch YouTube you can repair these bikes. There really isn't much to them and most components are usually plug and play. Ive never run into something I couldn't fix myself on these kind of e-bikes. This is a cheap entry level bike and it is going to be fine for most casual riders.
So true.

Their Customer Service is really bad. I ordered on November 1. I was supposed to get on fourth November, but delivery failed due to insufficient documentation given to FedEx at the origin and ever since AliExpress is not helping me by any means they keep telling I need to upload proof that I did not get the item from FedEx, FedEx is not giving the proof as FedEx does not want to talk to me and only seller can reach them. AliExpress initiated dispute, but this is never been resolved even after 15 days, plus, I am so pained with the whole process. I hope I never made purchasing AliExpress. I advise people not to buy from AliExpress. It's better to spend little bit more on Amazon and purchase from reputed website.
Guys I see lots of 1st time posts out there in this chat and they keep telling how good the product is, but i also remind that AliExpress customer service is a pain in the as* , it is day 20 with out any resolution .
