These are San Marzano tomatoes, I doubt that the Amazon brand are. San Marzano labeled tomatoes are a specific variety that are certified by Italian and EU regulations to have been grown in special Italian volcanic soil - the champagne of tomatoes. I've done side by side comps with scratch marinara and braised beef ragu, I think these Cento San Marzanos are worth the money for a splurge dish, my 2¢

Serious question... The Amazon brand ones would be a total of $5.85 for 6 cans with subscribe and save and the 10% off... Are the Cento ones really worth the extra $10?

I like that these don't have too much sodium.

Does Amazon sell their own brand San Marzano tomatoes?

I use these to make The Bear spaghetti like in the tv show. Search online for the recipe. Super tasty and not too hard to make, though a dutch oven is recommended.

The exact same can is 2.38 at my Walmart right now. These are 2.66. Regardless, either is a very good deal.

wow, that price has really dropped and I wonder if it's a mistake. they're like $4.50 at my local walmart

and as for quality, these are great tomatoes. I've tried some San marzano style ones and they're trash. there are other dop ones available but usually a significant amount more than these

I'd prefer organic DOP (or equivalent) certified Centos, but those are twice as much: Cento Organic Certified San Marzano Whole Peeled Tomatoes 28 Oz (Pack of 6), Canned Plum Tomatoes in Thick Puree with Basil, Grown and Processed in Italy https://a.co/d/f1zNHbr and I am not a wealthy person. I put a CCC alert for 26 bucks on them, though. Gotta have incredible tomatoes.

I'm getting these for making pizzas, which I'm doing about once a week in my little Gourmia pizza oven (thanks SD). As I've made more pizzas in the last few months, my tastes have become more rarified and so I'm becoming an ingredient snob. The DOP-equivalent Centos are very highly-regardied by pizza aficionados and freaks in YouTube pizza videos, and for me it's the next frontier. It goes to show that anything can become expensive. This happened to me with dark chocolate, and now I can't make myself eat the cheap shit.

The ones in this deal are cheaper and certified ISO — the difference is explained in this Amazon review (as well as other reviews):

" Good but they are NOT real San Marzanos Tomatoes
Review by Nic in the United States on May 5, 2023
1. They do not have the yellow & red DOP seal & the words Denominazione d'Origine Protetta on the cans.
2. They do not have an IP label - Indicazione Geografica Protetta (indication of geographical protection.
3. Authentic San Marzanos must say "Pomodoro San Marzano dell'Agro Sarnese Nocerino" on them.
4. The do not have a Consorzio San Marzano certification number on the bottom of the can.
5. ISO has nothing to do with a products orgin. ISO doesn't provide certification or conformity assessment.
These are good tomatoes but they are not authentic San Marzano "
