This Firebat A5P looks like a strong budget mini PC for casual gaming, emulation, and everyday desktop use, thanks to the Ryzen 7 8745HS and Radeon 780M. The 2x8GB dual channel RAM is a welcome surprise, and real world reports point to smooth 1080p play, low idle power, and a clean Windows 11 Home install on some units. The main drawbacks are the confusing port and network specs, with USB4 and Oculink missing, USB C details unclear, and Ethernet listed as either dual 1GbE or dual 2.5GbE. A clean reinstall and driver backup are commonly treated as part of setup, making it a capable but slightly mysterious pick.

  • buyers who plan to do a clean Windows install and manage drivers themselves because multiple commenters recommend wiping/reinstalling and backing up drivers first, and report clean installs with no bloatware or easy driver recovery.

  • casual PC gamers and emulation fans who want a small Windows mini PC because commenters say the 780M iGPU is "amazing for casual gaming" and that it should run a lot of games well if you lower settings/resolution.

  • buyers who want a mini PC with dual-channel RAM out of the box because commenters say it ships with 2x8GB (dual-stick), which helps GPU performance compared with the common single-stick 16GB configuration.

  • people building a "console-like" setup for older games (CS:GO, Total War Shogun, Company of Heroes 2) because one commenter says they mainly play games from 12-15 years ago and expects the mini PC to handle them without issue.

  • home media/home automation users who want to run services on a mini PC because someone asked about running Plex and Home Assistant simultaneously, implying this is the kind of always-on use case people consider for the unit.

  • buyers who want to trust the vendor's preloaded OS/drivers without wiping because multiple commenters recommend wiping/reinstalling due to bloatware/malware risk and/or concerns about hidden backdoors/rootkits in OEM-provided software.

  • people who specifically need reliable 2.5GbE networking because commenters report conflicting NIC specs (dual 2.5GbE vs dual 1GbE) and at least one unit received with only 1Gbps ports, which was a deal-breaker for their setup.

  • buyers who want sustained high performance for non-iGPU workloads (encoding/rendering) because commenters say the unit's power limits look constrained (e.g., PL1 45W / PL2 54W) and that for non-iGPU gaming/encoding the difference may not be worth spending extra versus RAM/storage upgrades.

  • buyers who need eGPU/advanced expansion via USB4/OCuLink because commenters say the unit lacks usb4 or oculink, so there's "no egpu of any kind," and they also call out limited video/port options (only one USB-C).

  • buyers who care about Windows sleep behavior (S3) because one commenter says S3 sleep doesn't work in Windows on their unit (only modern sleep/hibernate), while S3 works in Linux.

I'm pretty sure most generic drugs are made overseas with a good amount (if not a majority) from China. Are they considered riskier than brand name? Yes. Are they still considered safe? Yes, they are considered safe by most pharmacists and doctors. Do these manufacturers/distributors disclose that there could be a possible chance of contamination that they find later? Absolutely not.

But if you don't take generic drugs due to risks, then this makes sense. Your risk profile is probably much more cautious than mine, which I'm not saying is wrong. Just different.
I'm pretty sure you have no idea what you are talking about.

So I received mine about two days ago. Took many hours to fully upgrade Windows and Defender and ran a scan.
I downloaded a bootleg copy of Baldur's Gate III and microsoft 365. Both worked very well.
The unit is very quite until you stress it and then you can hear the fan. I am VERY IMPRESSED. What I like the most is having a SUPER CLEAN OS with ZERO BLOATWARE.
What's funny is that I almost filled up my hard drive... Baldur's Gate III is 130GB zipped.. then I need to unzip it... we are now at 260GB and now I have to install it.
I will add that I am planning to upgrade the RAM and harddrive. I will get a 4TB harddrive and I would like 64 of RAM or at least 32GB. As other's mentioned... RAM is crazy $$$$$ so I will wait for a crazy deal or just wait a year before I upgrade. This mini PC can easily have a ten year life or longer.
I really wanted the Ryzen 9 AI 370 but I am very happy with this purchase and don't think the Ryzen 9 AI 370 will do more for me then this system and giving me 3 - 6 extra frames per second does not do it for me.

20+ years experience IT guy. There is NO key you reuse. That's Windows 7 and earlier thinking. I remember those days well since I've used Windows since Win95.

The motherboard's Serial Number is registered with Microsoft, so Windows reactivates once connected to the internet. You don't need to worry about a Windows key, as long as the OEM shipped the PC with a valid copy of Windows. Again, there is no key. None.

Just download the drivers fron the OEM, or allow Windows Update to install the drivers. After thousands of PCs builds, it's the method I always use. If Windows doesn't have the Ethernet or Wifi driver, download it from the OEM's site and install just that driver. Always allow Windows Update to install as many drivers as possible. Grab AMD's latest driver for that 780M of you play games. Otherwise, just use the one provided by Windows Update.
Thank you... you know my copy of Windows 7 Enterprise became my Windows 10 and I am running a i5 and i7 3rd gen so they can not be upgraded to Windows 11. So the last time I actually installed my OS it was with a key...lol.
But just to clarify right now Windows has accepted my license. If I put in a 4TB card and reinstall a fresh copy of Windows 11 home... it should just work no problem cause Microsoft already registered the serial on the mobo?

Yeah, your HWID is saved on Microsoft's servers. I don't think it's possible to trigger a revocation just swapping out RAM or storage

Got mine today, pretty impressed so far in the brief time I've had to play around with it. Random notes:
  • F7 is the boot selection key. F2 enters BIOS, but you can also enter BIOS from F7
  • Idle power consumption 4-5W, according to a kill-a-watt. With all CPU cores pegged, goes up to 90W briefly, then ~70W sustained
  • Fan is a little annoying, as it shuts off completely at idle. The problem is that it turns on again very easily from any usage. Would rather have a lower RPM all the time instead, but no fan adjustment in the BIOS
  • Speaking of the BIOS, not many options whatsoever. Probably the only one people might care about is setting the power profile (default is balanced)
Anyway, great deal at this price, minor niggles notwithstanding

As far as I can tell, Balanced and Performance are the same setting. Both have PL1 (long duration power limit) at 45W and PL2 (short duration) at 54W which means it will only go up to 54W for the first 5 seconds of a 10-minute Cinebench run. Other mini PCs with this processor bump up PL1 to 50-54W and PL2 to 65W on Performance but this one doesn't seem to do so. Maybe because they're not confident about the cooling solution to allow it to go higher.

If you see something different let me know. You can check the power level using HWiNFO64.

Some conflicting info across different markets. Pictures show dual 2.5gb Ethernet ports (which I am inclined to believe) while the description says dual 1gbps.

It's hard to determine if this is a 1gb or 2.5gb pair of ethernet adapters. Appreciate if anyone has 100% confirmation.
The one I received unfortunately only had two 1Gbps ports. The NIC driver says RTL8168/8111 which is not a 2.5G chipset.

I'll probably still keep it but I probably would've gotten the AM02 with Ryzen 6600H deal for $150 if I knew both had the same networking ports.

Oof. I just double checked the Firebat website and they use different pictures than what Amazon uses. Amazon still shows dual 2.5G but Firebat shows dual 1G. That's an unfortunate oversight, especially if NIC speed/bandwidth plays into one's decision. Certainly a case of the item not matching the description if you choose to return it.

I'm sure the 8745HS is a significant performance upgrade over the 6600H which is nice to have, most certainly at this price point, but personally the lack of 2.5G ports (as advertised) would be a deal breaker for my setup.

Yeah 8745HS is better performance but the 45W power limit on this unit is pretty weak. For someone who's not going to use the iGPU for gaming or encoding the difference isn't worth $80 which could instead go towards a RAM or storage upgrade.

Solid logic. I actually have an N150 box with 16GB/512GB and it's impressively capable. I was using it for self hosting for a bit until I replaced it with a Core Ultra box for AV1 encoding.

Exactly. The SN / HWID of the motherboard was registered with a Win11 license (unclear if Home or Pro) but it should automatically reactivate the relevant version when connected to the internet.

I got mine yesterday and did a quick setup and then backed up all drivers using powershell to a pen drive, and then did a complete format and flashed Windows 11 Home ( download setup from MS website) ( Though there was no bloatware , I just wanted to make sure of clean install). I had to restore network related drivers from the backup and then connect to WiFi, then internet!

I highly recommend to take a backup of drivers to pen drive before/ if you do clean install of Windows !

So far so good, the case feels a little plasticky but I like everything else for the price, hope it holds good.

Just 1G ports here.

Can't seem to get S3 sleep working in Windows. All that's available is the always-connected modern sleep garbage and hibernate. Works in Linux, though

I emailed Firebat support asking for fan control / profiles and S3 support added to the BIOS. I doubt they'll ever add those (basic) features, but who knows 🤷 ♂️

I have been trying to figure out what's wrong with mine for 3 days now... I resintalled win 11 via download of win 11 thru the recovery function on the OEM SSD but when playing World of Tanks the internet keeps chopping out, laggs like till tomorrow... but when i replaced the oem SSD with my own SSD and upgraded it to Win11.. the WIFI problems dissapeared.. i am not sure what's on the OEM SSD that keeps cutting out my WIFI while playing games.
