This Firebat A5P looks like a strong budget mini PC for casual gaming, emulation, and everyday desktop use, thanks to the Ryzen 7 8745HS and Radeon 780M. The 2x8GB dual channel RAM is a welcome surprise, and real world reports point to smooth 1080p play, low idle power, and a clean Windows 11 Home install on some units. The main drawbacks are the confusing port and network specs, with USB4 and Oculink missing, USB C details unclear, and Ethernet listed as either dual 1GbE or dual 2.5GbE. A clean reinstall and driver backup are commonly treated as part of setup, making it a capable but slightly mysterious pick.

  • The unit reportedly ships with 2x8GB DDR5 RAM for dual-channel performance.

  • The mini PC can handle 1080p gaming well for an iGPU class setup.

  • A clean Windows 11 install reportedly auto-activates without a product key.

  • The system reportedly supports USB-C power up to 100W on the Amazon listing.

I'm EST, I was able to get one for $234 plus the $20ish for the fees. It's now 11p. I don't think the PayPal codes are working, or at least I wasn't able to make them work. I saw there was only 1 left, and the original code kept not working. My palms were sweating. 😅😅😅 The price went back up and it says the previous deal is over, but still is discounted.

Windows now activates based upon device ID / Serial Number of the motherboard after checking in with MS servers. It's been that way since Windows 8.

There are still retail / volume license keys, but most OEM keys are now assign to the mobo.

As for the drivers, I'd recommend attempting to rebuild without any drivers, and only install relevant Ethernet / WiFi drivers if you're unable to connect to the internet to pull remaining drivers via Windows Update. Worst case, Windows 11 doesn't detect the storage controller, and you'll have to provide that driver on a USB drive at Windows 11 setup.

It's subsidized by state malware. It's very similar to how Ring/Blink camera footage is processed through Amazon servers for AI training and sharing with Flock/LEOs. Similarly the US government and Saudi Arabian government purchased EA games so they pretty much have a back door on any windows PC that has Xbox Games/ EA App installed. Generally if something tech-related is free or cheap, 9/10 times it's because they're making money off of your data. The sad part is more and more companies are realizing they can charge more and sell your data. This never stops unless everyone stops giving them money.
Honestly, you probably shouldn't buy anything that can connect to the Internet that isn't made in the US or has parts made from outside the US. Any of those items could have state malware at the hardware level. We've seen it happen before in other products, so it can happen in any product.

Even if you find something that is made purely in the US, don't install any software on it. It could contain malware. We've seen plenty of times where software could contain malware in the past, so any software is just looking for trouble.

Don't sign up or register an account with any service or site too. They are either monitoring your data or have security holes that leak your data. Just check https://haveibeenpwned.com/

in fact, just to be safe, stop using the Internet. No browser is safe whether it's open source or closed source. Your ISP is monitoring you anyways. Log off now. It's not safe.

You mean like a malicious UEFI firmware? While possible, I don't think there have been any documented cases with these mini-PCs, at least not that I've seen in some quick Googling.
I believe Lenovo got caught baking malicious software into the UEFI of some of their consumer machines years ago.

This you is much more powerful than the steam deck. It's the same as the legion go/z1 extreme models.

I got this last week for 260$ and it's a great mini pc and my aliexpress order shipped from Amazon. Handles 1080p gaming identical to legion go (very well for an iGPU) - perhaps a little better due to better cooling and TDP.

It came with windows 11 home and no garbage. Clean install was easy and no issues with drivers. 2x DDR5 8GB and a kingston nvme and 2x2.5GbE. for $230 this is a total steal.
