I like this device but you can expect them to last between 1-2 years. Grab an extended warranty if you can.

I've had 2 of the charge 5 die on me and my 6 recently failed. Always battery/charging issues.

None of mine lasted a full 2 years.

I got this because I wanted as minimal of a fitness tracker as possible (I like wearing normal watches) - that said, there are better options available if you're doing something like me. Check out the amazfit helio strap. I wish that had been available when I got my Fitbit

I'm coming up on 2 years with mine. Bought it this month in 2023 from a QVC deal (came to $85 out the door). Mine has been through the ringer: outdoor activities (hiking all over the US in various environments), working on cars (whacking bolts, covered in motor oil and fuel). My band broke after 1.5 years, which I found impressive after how many times it snagged on things. Throughout that time, I've been thoroughly impressed with functionality and their algorithms. Granted this was my first smart/fitness watch, so I don't have anything to compare it to. I don't know how accurate the heart rate monitor is, or the step count - frankly that wasn't super important to me at the time. I can tell it trends properly (as in, I'm exercising and it'll pick up on increased heart rate - whether that heart rate number is my true heart rate, meh, not super interested). It's been most valuable for me for monitoring my sleep. It was sensitive enough to pick up when my heart rate dropped to a low level overnight, which I later found out is due to have PVCs (premature ventricular contractions).

When mine dies (which according to others, should be any day now if the 2-yr lifespan is true), I'd probably buy another one for the sleep tracking alone. I did not renew premium after my 6-month trial was over. Teh value proposition wasn't there.

Interesting, none of my fitbit failed, own 1 ever since fitbit came out. I have seen many kinda posts like this, I think it is due to how u use it. U may find Garmin more favorable, design to get abused

Had a Charge 5 that lasted about 1 1/2 years before failing on me. As great as it was while it was working, I'm not sure I'd get another Fitbit after that.

I'm unsure if I'm doing something wrong. But I got my brother and his partner to buy the Charge 5 as well because I liked it so much.

They both had failures and received replacements through the warranty process and each of those replacements failed as well.

I'm the first to have the 6 fail on me. They both currently have the 6 at this time. I guess most of our problems were with the 5 and not actually with the 6 but after my 6 recently died with the same issues I decided to change brands.

I like wearing traditional watches too (my Grand Seiko Snowflake is my daily driver) and have really enjoyed the Oura ring for daily fitness tracking. It's not the best for workout but I don't work out while wearing an actual watch.

I keep buying these although I don't know why. The bands break (I buy them in bulk from Amazon), the screens go dim, and the battery life shortens (this one can't last me through a marathon on a full charge with GPS running). But when they work it's a great, subdued experience. I can still wear a regular watch on my other hand and it's not overkill.

Did you reach out to their customer service? They're pretty awesome! Years ago, I don't know how but I lost my Fitbit, like it fell off my wrist or someone stole it 😆 at a club and I contacted them, asking if there was a way to track it somehow. They actually sent me a brand new one, I was grateful and surprised!

Yep, my Charge 5 died at 13 months. I liked it otherwise. Using a Xiaomi smart band 9 currently. Great battery life of a couple weeks. But no NFC or built in GPS like the Charge. Then again I always have my phone with me and the Xiaomi was $36. ($24 higher now)
