KEF's Q Concerto Meta is a large 3 way bookshelf speaker that stands out for bass depth, dynamic punch, and a broad soundstage, especially in larger rooms or home theater setups. The $1,000 pair price is called a strong deal and matches recent KEF and retailer pricing. Proper amplification matters, since the speakers are described as demanding 4 ohm loads that can sound warm, dark, or even bright if the setup is off. The main tradeoff is that they are not the most forgiving choice, so pairing and room size matter. A solid option when you want KEF scale without moving to towers.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. It matches KEF's own website price, Abt has had the same price, and it was also last year's Black Friday price. Some buyers have found open-box pairs for less, but $1,000 is still described as a strong deal for this model.
Yes. These are 85 dB sensitivity, 4-ohm speakers with impedance dips lower, so they need an amplifier with real overhead and stability. A modest AVR rated around 60W/ch may not drive them properly, while stronger class D amps and Emotiva BasX amps are reported to work well.
They're described as warm and a bit treble-light rather than bright. In larger rooms they can sound muffled or dark, and one listener found them too bright and returned them, so placement, room size, and amplification can affect the balance.
The Q Concerto Meta is the larger 3-way passive model with more bass depth and dynamic capability, while the LS50 Meta is more about clarity and midrange finesse and the LSX II is a small powered desktop speaker. With proper amplification, the Q Concerto Meta can outperform the LSX II and is often favored for larger rooms or use without a sub.
Yes, especially if you want a more forward presentation with a broader soundstage and have enough amplification. They're also described as a strong choice for movies/TV and dynamic music, though some prefer other speakers like Polk or Ascend for a more neutral, laid-back home-theater setup.

Seems like a great price.

I use a 7 channel BasX for my home theater tho.
Q150: Frequency Response 51Hz-28kHz (±3dB)
LS50 meta: Frequency Response 79 Hz - 28 kHz (±3dB)
That is a huge difference. LS50 metas cost 3x as much and perform significantly worse in one of the most basic and universal measures of a speaker's performance. LS50 metas are massively overrated and overpriced.
