This is a tiny rechargeable magnetic work light that is handy for under car and garage use, with a hook and a magnet that can hold its weight when positioned well. The low price makes the rough build easier to accept, and the 18650 battery inside can be swapped for better runtime. Brightness is disputed, but the light is generally treated as modest rather than impressive. The main drawbacks are weak or loose magnets and hinges, short battery life, and some early charging failures, so it fits best as a cheap backup light.

Common Questions (5)

  • The listing says 800 lumens, but multiple comments say they are noticeably dimmer than Harbor Freight Braun lights and not near that figure. They are described as small, handy work lights rather than super-bright shop lights.

  • Runtime is reported as short, with estimates ranging from about an hour on full power to around two hours in garage use. One report says a unit dimmed in under 5 minutes after overnight charging, suggesting battery quality can be inconsistent.

  • Yes, the light can be opened and one comment says it uses an 18650 inside, with a replacement improving runtime. The cell may be soldered to the PCB with wires, so swapping it can require opening the unit and possibly soldering.

  • It is described as cheap and usable, but the hinge can loosen and stop holding position, and the body may be damaged by brake cleaner overspray. That makes it better suited to light-duty or disposable use than harsh shop conditions.

  • The magnet is reported as weak on some units and can be knocked off easily if bumped. Another comment says it holds its own weight inverted, so it may be usable for light-duty mounting but not for rough handling.

having had one of these or one that looks identical, I'll mention that the body is not solvent proof. So brake clean overspray will dissolve the light. It'll be first noticed when you grab the light and it sticks to your hand. Then it will chip away as if it is made of thin eggshell until the components are just dangling. And I love my Braun, esp the newer one that is double-hinged and folds flat, although its not as bright as the one with the single hinge.

Is the process of replacing the 18650 batteries straightforward or is it one of those products where you have to "break" into it to reach the battery. Then is it soldered in or does it use spring contacts? I have a ton of extra 18650 batteries laying around. So the cost would only be my time.
It's dead simple, there might be a small blob of silastic to contend with.
The cell will likely be soldered to the PCB via wires.
Thought about adding a JST plug from the PCB to the cell, so it's just 2 screws to open and then a plug cycle VS needing to solder, but removing the wire happens so infrequently.

These lights have terrible quality. I bought a pair last year and they've started failing already. One of them doesn't charge and the other has terrible battery life that dims in less that 5 minutes even after charging over night.

Have and use these daily.
Complaints, wish they were USBC (these might be USBC) , they typically require a "small cast head" miniusb plug to fit into the the charge port, don't like it.
The cell inside is fairly anemic, replaced it with a high capacity 18650.
The tip cover is held on with stickers, and will peal falling off, so you have to glue it back on.
I wish it had a "hold button down" to turn off, you have to cycle through all the modes to turn it off.
It doesn't have a auto reset LVC cutoff. Once the device depletes and turns off mine won't turn back on, have to charge the cell and momentarily remove power via the internal wire to reset the chip. StupidAF if you leave it on...
Wish it had a auto off after ~2Hrs

Have not found a more versatile cheap flashlight.
Can you show more details about where you got the battery and how to install it?

Got those last year, alright for the money. Magnet is a joke, it barely sticks to metal and is easily knocked off if you accidentally hit it.
Came to say this. Returned them for that issue and went with these instead https://www.walmart.com/ip/seort/15026170066

for 5 bucks its fine. the magnet sticks to metal and holds its weight inverted. the hook is nice. the hinge has to be over the top for it to stand upright without tipping. batt life at max is short. I took it apart and its an 18650 so should see decent improvement with a good quality battery. overall the quality is pretty low, but for a beat up work light / and stocking stuffer im happy with it.

I have this and it worked decent when i work under my car in my garage.

I think it lasted about 2 hours or so. For $10 or $15, i think it was worth it
