Personally, I only buy clear totes. Nothing worse than not remembering which tote something is stored in.

I used these very totes for hydroponics. Granted water is a lot heavier than dry dirt but if you're looking to lug it around by the handles with soil that's already been watered, I wouldn't try it.

I only have the black ones right now but I noticed the black ones do say "industrial" where as the clear ones do not. So likely you are spot on there.

I have seen folks use these to store their folding e-bikes. Makes it easier to load/unload the folded e-bike in a car/ SUV.
