This OmniBook X Flip stands out as a well priced 16 inch 2 in 1 with a 3K OLED touch display, Intel Ultra 9 288V, 32GB of memory, and a 2TB SSD. The 288V is praised for strong single core performance and excellent energy efficiency, which should help battery life, while the 32GB RAM and roomy storage make it unusually well equipped for its class. The main tradeoffs are the 8 core chip's weaker multicore performance and some display concerns, including graininess or mura on white backgrounds and possible OLED text fringing. A strong spec sheet for everyday use and travel, with a few screen caveats to check in person.

  • people who want a 2-in-1 for long battery use and mostly single-core everyday work because the 288V (Lunar Lake V) is positioned as the most energy-efficient Windows option in its category and should serve most people well unless they're sustaining heavy multicore loads for long periods.

  • buyers who care about getting more than the typical RAM/storage in this class because 32GB RAM is better than most laptops in its class and the deal bundles 2TB alongside the OLED/3K upgrade.

  • shoppers comparing against open-box/refurb and eBay who want a strong value at this configuration because one commenter said they found 16GB laptops around the same price during weekend research and still ended up returning a cheaper Galaxy Book after buying this.

  • general-purpose users who plan to keep the laptop for years because the jump to 3K OLED plus 2TB and 32GB was described as "futureproofing," with the commenter feeling the specs should be more than enough for 5-8 years.

  • people who will actually use the OLED screen (not just an external monitor) because one buyer called OLED a major improvement over LEDs and said it's a day-and-night difference.

  • people who are sensitive to OLED subpixel/font rendering because some OLED subpixel layouts can cause color fringing and loss of text clarity, and the commenter said it seriously hurts their eyes.

  • buyers who will run the laptop on an external monitor 90%+ of the time because one commenter said the OLED is "somewhat wasted" when the built-in display won't be used most of the day.

  • heavy software engineering users who need consistent high performance and low friction because one commenter returned theirs after feeling minimal but palpable keyboard latency, seeing HDMI limitations for >60Hz @ 4K, and concluding the CPU felt limiting compared to their previous mobile chip.

  • people who notice mura/screen artifacts because a buyer reported a pronounced mura effect on their unit even though other aspects looked great, and they still decided to return it.

  • buyers who specifically need HDMI output above 60Hz at 4K because one commenter observed the HDMI port didn't appear to support >60Hz @ 4K on their unit and called it a deal-breaker.

Is this a very efficient processor or something? Seems really slow by modern standards:

Yeah, the V type lunar lake processors are the most energy efficient in their performance category for the Windows side. The H and HX use a lot more power, and the ARM based Snapdragon X elite loses a lot of app compatability to match the V's. Upcoming Panther Lake should improve on performance in the low watt category next year, but for now its the winner. The main thing is that it tops out at 8 cores, and some are ultra low power, so it loses on multicore benchmarks. if you compare single core performance to the H and HX, you find that it is similar. So unless they are doing something that loads up all cores for long periods, most people will be well served by the long battery performance.

Intel and AMD both have once again put so much energy into making SKUs cryptic.

Could be worse...at least I know a 288V is probably better than a 256V, unlike Dell where I haven't a clue if a Dell Pro Plus Premium Tower is better than a Dell Pro Max Micro desktop!

Do we expect any better deals on a laptop with these specs?

To me this is an excellent deal being 288v. These types of laptops 2n1 tend to be on the lighter side of raw performance more necessarily for functionality with 3k and for use with multi monitors. 32GB RAM is better than most of the laptops in its class

The price for this is a good deal considering I spent most of the weekend researching laptops including open box refurbished or eBay posts with 16GB around the same price. I even purchased a galaxy book 5 260 14in for 50.00 less. Now need to return the galaxy book

This is a good deal. I'm torn on this because the CPU and screen are way overkill for what I need, but I'm leaning towards getting this just to splurge a bit.

Very nearly bought the lower end model on sale for $679 yesterday. This adds the 3K OLED and bumps up the specs to 2TB, 32GB. Also Core 9 vs Core 7. $320 more for a little bit of futureproofing.

Anyone know how well these models hold up in terms of durability? I think the specs should be more than enough for general purpose use for 5-8 years.

What laptop are you talking about from Samsung??

Guessing where you wrote "260" you meant "Pro"? The 14 inch doesn't come in a 360 model...

How useful is the touch screen? Is it worth the extra money or I am I better off with a non touch screen?

Can anyone find a zoomed in view of the screen? An actual photo that shows the subpixel layout.
Many OLEDs have subpixel layouts that aren't compatible with font rendering, leading to color fringing and loss of text clarity. Some people can't notice this difference, others can notice. I'm one of those that can notice and it seriously hurts my eyes.
I can't find a single detailed review of this laptop, nor can I find any detailed specs on OLED panel itself.

Are you able to look at a display model in the store? I somehow doubt you'll find this info online.

I picked up one of these last night, but not sure if I want to keep it.

I found a Lenova 16" Yoga Flip that is $200 less (even cheaper as open box-excellent). Only 16GB and 1TB, but I think 32GB is overkill anyway (for the time being) and I could always upgrade the SSD later if I need.

Is it worth paying $300+ extra for the OLED screen and a marginally faster CPU?
