Refurbished Sony WH1000XM5 headphones are drawing attention for strong noise canceling and premium sound at a steep discount, with the deal hitting an all time low and a two year warranty attached. The price can drop further with offers or a coupon, and accepted offers cluster around $105 to $120. Several units arrived looking brand new with cables tucked in the case, and the retailer is being treated as legitimate. The main concern is durability, especially bumpy headbands and hinge breakage that may not be covered. A compelling value if you are comfortable watching the build closely.
Common Questions (5)
$105 has been accepted repeatedly, and some buyers also got $110, $120, or even $100 accepted depending on stock timing. A first $105 offer can be rejected, then accepted later when the item restocks, so it can be worth retrying.
The XM5 has reported hinge and headband trouble, including breakage in the same spot on multiple units and bumpy repaired headbands on some refurbs. Careful handling may reduce stress, but the design is still described as a weak point.
The deal includes a 2-year warranty. That matters here because hinge or headband problems are the main durability concern, and warranty coverage may help if the issue is treated as a repairable defect rather than user damage.
The headphones can arrive with the carrying case plus charging and audio cables stored in the case compartment. Some units ship without a box, but the cables are included with the headset.
Yes, one order reportedly arrived as a Sony WH-1000XM6 instead of the WH-1000XM5. Pairing with the Sony app and checking the case and hinge design can help confirm the model.

As for the durability concern, I can see how it could be an issue if you pull on the ear cups often, causing frequent stress on the hinge, fatiguing it and breaking it. Definitely looks like a weak design, seems to be a tradeoff to try to minimize weight. I plan to try and mostly grab/pull on the headband part to reduce the stress on that hinge part.
Edit nevermind it's actually in the compartment of the case.

Secondipity is a legit retailer and I wonder where they get so many of these. $105 was a steal, they sound as good if not better than my Airpods Max.
figured out that, the case has magnetic closure and the hinge is different for XM6 - another ways to ensure you do have XM6
