This ROG Strix G16 pairs a Ryzen 9 HX and RTX 5070 Ti with a 165Hz panel, strong gaming hardware, and upgradeable DDR5 memory. The main upside is the performance package and the fact that the RAM is not LPDDR, so it can be expanded. The display is the weak point, with repeated criticism of the 1080p resolution and 300 nit brightness, especially for a laptop at this price. It looks like a capable machine if the screen tradeoff is acceptable.
Gamers who want upgradeable memory, because the RAM is SODIMM DDR5 rather than soldered LPDDR.
The detailed specs show DDR5 5600 SODIMM RAM, not LPDDR, so it is upgradeable. Best Buy's description conflicts with the specs page, but the ASUS spec sheet and detailed specs point to standard removable memory.
Yes. The panel is listed as FHD 165Hz with 300 nits brightness, which makes it fine for indoor use but relatively dim compared with brighter gaming laptops.
That is unclear from the comments and conflicting reports exist. The second M.2 bay may be PCIe 5 on some listings, but no confirmed answer is provided here.
No throttling issue is confirmed for the Ryzen 9 in these comments. The throttling concern raised here is about whether the GPU or CPU is affected, but no direct report of Ryzen 9 throttling is provided.
I made a new C1S account & got a targeted 52% off (max $500) offer via email for Lenovo, folliwed by a 30% off (max $1000) Lenovo. So I got a new Legion 7i Gen 10 direct from Lenovo for ~$1100 after the rebate points.

YMMV
What is C1S though?

1080P for $1200 is just insulting at this point. My laptop from 2019 does 2K and was $900 on a heavy discount. Course, it is a Dell so the build quality is trash and the battery pooped the bed, but my point stands.

I have the 50 dollar membership.. can I get that 30% somehow?
Heading into BF and holiday season, these should be getting cheaper, not expensive, and they would be. No reason to buy an open box at a higher price.
