Community Reviews
This Ridgid mid torque impact wrench kit stands out as a strong lug nut and general wheel service tool with a good strength to weight balance. It has enough punch to remove stubborn fasteners, and the four mode control plus auto stop make it versatile for tightening and removal. The pin detent anvil suits lug nut work and overhead use, though socket changes are slower than with a friction ring. The ramp up feels slower than an air impact at first, and the bundled battery value matters if you do not need the extra pack.
The impact wrench can handle lug nut duty and fits as a go-to option for truck work.
The pin detent anvil locks sockets onto the wrench and helps prevent heavy socket drops overhead.
The tool's auto-stop behavior can limit tightening around 20-30 ft-lbs during operation.
The kit can be a strong value when factoring in a military discount price and an estimated protective boot add-on.
The power ramp-up starts slower than air impacts, which can feel odd at first.
The pin detent socket system can be a pain to change sockets, and misalignment may slow removal.
Mode 2 can over-tighten fasteners around 120 ft-lb, so careful control is needed.
The second battery may be unnecessary for occasional use, since battery life starts waning after purchase.

The power ramp-up takes a little getting used to, but for a standalone package, I highly recommend.
Which is better: pin detent (this one) or friction ring (the one I linked)?

At this price I wouldn't hesitate to buy again if I had didn't already have one. I also have the high torque model but haven't needed to use it yet as this mid torque has gotten the job done.
The lifetime warranty for the Ridgid tools and batteries if you register them is a great added bonus, although I've never needed to use that warranty in the years I've owned Ridgid tools.
