I think it was the 990 EVO Pus that hit $120 on Samsung's webstore before the "AI RAM shortage". This model (without the heat sink) got as low as $133 on Amazon based on my spreadsheet I started back in August for my current PC build.

At least this was the only component I feel like I "overpaid" for so far. lol

This isn't sold or shipped by Amazon. I almost pulled the trigger, but saw it was 3rd party for both.

Would be fair price if fulfilled by Amazon or another authorized dealer.
When fulfilled by a rando 3rd party seller you are out of luck on warranty.
Better off getting an Open box that gives you the remainder of the warranty time the original purchase already started the clock on.
Chances are this was already an Amazon return anyway.

Was $124 at some small vendor was posted here around two months ago. Same vendor did the heatsink model for $129 around a month or so ago. Both were posted here, they don't have a ton of inventory. I think there were some other sales but those were the lowest I can remember recently.

edit: I ended up grabbing the WD Black 4TB for $150 a little over a month ago (was really lucky, super slick).

Ahh, that might have been B&H Photo? I had a note in my spreadsheet when the 2TB Samsung EVO Plus went on sale for $100 at their store.

Wow! That's a great deal for a 4TB NVMe! How's the performance of the WD Black compare to the 990 Pro?

$123.99 in August @ the small vendor
$133 in October @ Newegg

You can use the search function and you'll find all of the recent sales FYI instead of asking. My plans to build a computer fell through due to RAM prices so I'm going to hold onto the WD black nvme ssd until next Spring/Summer or later. I cancelled the Walmart 5070 TI+9800X3D CyberpowerPC after getting it down to $1620 or something, I don't really need a PC right now and am willing to wait up to another year or more (eventually consumer RAM prices will come down and even if they never do my PC is fine for many more years).

You can get a refurbished non-heatsink version through BestBuy for $120, with extended return period. Got one just yesterday.
