Community Reviews
The AMS 2 Pro stands out as a stronger multi filament add on, especially for expanding beyond a single AMS and for handling abrasive materials with less wear on the unit. It also adds drying for up to four spools at once when the filament needs match, along with more powerful motors. The catch is that full use can require extra parts, including an upgrade kit for P1 setups, a hub or cable, and in some A1 setups the dryer accessories are missing. That makes it best viewed as an expansion piece, not a simple swap.
Common Questions (4)
Yes. A P1 needs an upgrade kit for full AMS/AMS2 functionality, and the AMS 2 Pro also needs additional connection pieces such as the hub and a 4-prong cable to integrate with an existing setup. Those extras can add roughly $50 or more to the total.
Yes, the A1 series is supported with AMS 2 units, but using the dryer function needs extra A1-specific accessories such as the AMS Hub for A1 and the switching power supply. The original P-series buffer can also be used in some setups.
As a straight swap from AMS 1 to AMS 2, it is not compelling. As an additional unit to expand multi-filament capacity, it is a strong buy at this price, especially compared with a second AMS 1.
No. It can dry up to four spools at once only when the printer is idle, and the spools rotate during drying so the filament must be secured. It is better suited to downtime drying than to always-on printing.

It can handle abrasive materials with little or no wear and tear on the unit itself (PTFE tubes will still wear)
It has more powerful motors.
I bought it for the abrasives handling and motor. I try to keep it busy, and have a food dehydrator, so the drying is just a nice bonus.
There is a Sunlu kit that can take the non-pro AMS and turn it into a filament dryer that can run while you print - https://www.sunlu.com/products/su...ro-for-you
