The AMS 2 Pro stands out as a stronger multi filament add on, especially for expanding beyond a single AMS and for handling abrasive materials with less wear on the unit. It also adds drying for up to four spools at once when the filament needs match, along with more powerful motors. The catch is that full use can require extra parts, including an upgrade kit for P1 setups, a hub or cable, and in some A1 setups the dryer accessories are missing. That makes it best viewed as an expansion piece, not a simple swap.
The AMS 2 Pro can dry multiple 4-spool loads when temperature needs match, which helps during printer downtime.
The AMS 2 Pro can handle abrasive materials with little or no wear on the unit itself, while stronger motors support that use.
The Micro Center offer can be a better value than Bambu's AMS-only Black Friday sale when factoring the AMS/AMS2 upgrade path.
The AMS 2 Pro can expand multi-filament options as an additional AMS, which can be a straightforward upgrade at this price.
Connecting the AMS 2 Pro to an existing setup can require other expensive pieces, including a specific 4-prong cable from the hub to the Bambu unit.
P1 owners reportedly need an upgrade kit to get full AMS/AMS2 functionality, which adds extra cost.
The AMS 2 Pro cannot dry while printing, and spools turning requires securing filament to avoid issues.
A1 accessory gaps can prevent using the AMS 2 Pro with the dryer, since the AMS Hub for A1 and the required switching power supply are missing.

It can handle abrasive materials with little or no wear and tear on the unit itself (PTFE tubes will still wear)
It has more powerful motors.
I bought it for the abrasives handling and motor. I try to keep it busy, and have a food dehydrator, so the drying is just a nice bonus.
There is a Sunlu kit that can take the non-pro AMS and turn it into a filament dryer that can run while you print - https://www.sunlu.com/products/su...ro-for-you
