You should be able to go into paypal and cancel the automatic payment after you sign up. Settings ->Payments->Automatic payments

I got this deal last time and haven't seen commenters point out my main use case yet. When you have pro, you can choose what model to use. This lets you essentially have Claude Sonnet 4.5 Thinking for free, which is the best writer of the SOTA models. The context window from Anthropic is 200k tokens when used on their website, but Perplexity caps at 32k tokens (for obvious cost-saving reasons). But for quick help on some of my longer emails, it's been better than ChatGPT 5 at warm, more-human-sounding writing.

Requires unique email if you used the offer before. If you don't have more than one email (anyone? anyone?), just use +tag for your gmail or other account that supports tagging (i.e, dynamic alias), or use hideyouremail if your on an apple device.

that's my experience too. Got Perplexity Pro free for a year, but the results are pretty unsatisfactory. I end up using free chatGPT instead. No wonder Perplexity is handing it out for free. Doubt their deal with Snapchat will make much difference.

Played with the pro account from venmo. Perplexity is awful. I got better results straight from chatgpt free.

Can confirm, I signed up for a new account, connected paypal for subscription billing. immediately opened the manage subscriptions through preplexity and cancelled the subscription - have access till 11/6/2026.

Yes. Under profile and membership, i had 6 months via Logitech and got the paypal year about 2 months ago, you can turn off auto renewal

The only thing I've heard about Perplexity is that it can automate buying for you on stores like Amazon and it's making Amazon very angry. So angry that they're suing them.

Anything that makes Amazon angry is probably worth looking into since they themselves are scumbags and also are using "AI" to manipulate people. Seems like a very poetic situation.

Edit: Jeff Bezos is a major investor of Perplexity. Something fishy is going on here with the recent news and ads/deals going out for this. Wink

Honestly, I want to like Perplexity Pro. I would love if whoever is downvoting us to give us use cases on how to use Perplexity better. I explored the more advanced features like Labs and Deep Learning, but not really sure what I would use these features for unless I was in college trying to generate some essay.

That's why they do this so they can collect more data to train their models. Basically you're actually giving them your data for free. I really hope one day instead of us having to pay for these services, we can instead, charge them for our data.

The issue isn't data gathering, it's what they do with it, how well they pre-process it, and how well they use it for training their LLMs. If your product still spits out worse answers than the market leaders, no matter how much data you have, it won't matter. But you're right, we should get paid for access to our data.
