I got this deal last time and haven't seen commenters point out my main use case yet. When you have pro, you can choose what model to use. This lets you essentially have Claude Sonnet 4.5 Thinking for free, which is the best writer of the SOTA models. The context window from Anthropic is 200k tokens when used on their website, but Perplexity caps at 32k tokens (for obvious cost-saving reasons). But for quick help on some of my longer emails, it's been better than ChatGPT 5 at warm, more-human-sounding writing.

Requires unique email if you used the offer before. If you don't have more than one email (anyone? anyone?), just use +tag for your gmail or other account that supports tagging (i.e, dynamic alias), or use hideyouremail if your on an apple device.

Community Reviews

Perplexity Pro is a yearlong free trial that adds model choice, source controls, and cited answers for fact checking, with some finding it useful for longer emails, research, and quick website building. The offer is for new subscribers only and does not stack with prior subscriptions, so a unique email may be needed if the promo was used before. It auto renews at $20 per month after the free year unless canceled, and cancellation can be done right away through Perplexity, PayPal, or a virtual card. A practical pick if you want Pro features without paying upfront.

  • The subscription can be canceled immediately after signing up without losing access to the free year.

  • Perplexity Pro lets you choose different models and configure sources in Spaces.

    FancyGiraffe844fool4deal

  • Perplexity Pro can show references that help with fact-checking during research.

    purewhiteasian

  • Perplexity Pro Labs can help build a business website in about 30 minutes with tweaking.

    fool4deal

  • The offer is limited to new Pro users and can error for accounts that previously subscribed.

    daddykoolCS4joogle

  • Perplexity Pro auto-renews at the monthly rate after the free period, so cancellation timing matters.

    ShetBoyardeeBrightChicken7865

  • Perplexity Pro results can be unsatisfactory, leading some users to switch back to free ChatGPT.

    linktrakkerfintlewoodlewix

  • Perplexity Pro caps the context window at 32k tokens, which is lower than Anthropic's 200k token option.

Can you post that from the terms? I do see "By redeeming, you agree to apply the complimentary Perplexity Pro subscription to your Perplexity account and after the complimentary subscription period, your subscription will auto-renew at the current monthly rate." Which implies it can be canceled before or at least during the first month after the 1 year subscription ends. If not before.
