FWIW read the reviews before you dive in. I bought one a while back on an even crazier deal because I couldn't argue the usefulness having M12 stuff, but these are probably not good for someone that is going to use it a lot or for thick joints.

I like Milwaukee tools and own many in the M12 line, but these are junk. I sold my after the first use over a year ago and own a butane powered unit for field work. It works much better then this ever would have. Cool idea, bad execution.

Probably the best option other than maybe Pinecil and a USB-C PD power bank if you can live with a small cord.

I agree. I've had one for about 2.5 years and find it acceptable for some applications, but it's pretty unrefined. I often ended up using my Weller soldering station with an M18 power inverter if I'm away from power. I still use the M12 occasionally for quick stuff since it's very convenient and heats up in about 20s.
That being said, if you do want one, this is a very decent price.

Horses for courses. I'm a Harry Homeowner and find this iron perfect for the occasional soldering job. For finer work, I pull out the Weller. I could never get a butane unit to work for me reliably, but I'm sure that was user error.

Pass on this, it sucks. Agree with others, butane or USB-C and battery bank is really the only way to go cordless.

I bought one years back, it kinda works, but feels more like a cheap ryobi tool than a milwaukee. It's fat and unwieldy. Honestly I might buy one of those USB cordless ones on amazon seems a lot more functional than this.

I have a pinball collection and I LOVE this Iron. Tempted to get one as a backup. It does need some time to melt the bigger globs some people put down, especially on heavier gage wiring on some solenoids. But I havent used a service outlet and a corded iron in all the years Ive owned one of these. I still use a nicer more controlled soldering station for board work, but I have found this very useful.

From what I've been seeing, any Milwaukee tools that need to generate heat (ie: a heat gun, or a soldering iron) may be best to just get a plug in version.
A $20 Harbor Freight heatgun with a cord will work better than the Milwaukee battery powered heat gun that is 5x the price. And I am a huge Milwaukee fan. I have a ton of M18 and a bunch of M12 tools.
