Last time the 540 Solar was at this price, probably will come back to that price
The Solar is overrated- bought that one last time. All the reviews pretty much showed you're only getting ~2-3% better battery life over non Solar variant (so it might actually be 0% given margin of error). You're also sacrificing screen brightness with the Solar since the solar panel sits over the screen.

I knew about both of those issues with the Solar version - no benefits to battery life and lower screen brightness. But my rationale at the time was that the non-Solar was more expensive at the time, and since the Solar version has a higher MSRP, that if I decide to sell it at a later time, I might perhaps recoup more of my money back. If both Solar and non-Solar were same price, I would've chosen the non-Solar for higher brightness screen (makes a huge difference when you're biking in the sun).

With my 540 non solar riding about 2 hours a day 5 days a week I can go several weeks without needing a charge. Just my experience.
