Price drop from 2 days ago. Was $249.
Costco has the worst ecommerce site, so this product page is wrong price, wrong RAM, wrong SKU
You want Item #1773500
Is there a Costco code to items priced with .97 cents?
Discontinued?
Deleted?
YMMV
Good hunting.

Meta Quest 3S is landing at a sharp warehouse markdown, with local Costco pricing around $199 to $249 and the deal appearing store specific in the app. The headset is praised as a strong entry point for VR, especially for Beat Saber, Superhot, Job Simulator, and other casual games, and the lenses and field of view are a big step up from older headsets. Costco rewards, a 90 day return policy, and a free 12 month subscription add value. The main caveats are that pricing and stock vary by location, the app may show a different online price, and the listing may actually be the 128GB model.
Costco members who want to verify warehouse stock and pricing in the Costco app because the comments say you can tap the warehouse button to see warehouse inventory/price (and examples show pricing can differ by location).
Buyers who wear glasses and want a clearer, more comfortable experience because the comments say custom lenses can be made for the Quest 3/3 Plus and that lenses make a big difference for visuals.
Shoppers who are okay with doing a bit of setup and managing subscriptions/access because the comments note some VR features require a monthly $19.99 subscription and that free games/credits depend on activation/subscription status.
People who are excited to play popular VR titles like Beat Saber, Superhot, Job Simulator, and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes because commenters specifically called out those games as a good fit for the headset.
People who want to use VR features that depend on Pr0nhub VR because the comments say it requires a monthly $19.99 subscription.
Seniors or anyone who mainly prefers "sitting games" because one commenter said the original Quest had more/better sitting AR games and that Meta dropped support and those purchased games disappeared.
Buyers who don't want to deal with Meta's firmware/OS behavior because the comments say recent Meta Quest firmwares push social features and can contribute to "Not enough memory to run this app" errors (and the OS is less open to customization/debloating).
Anyone who expects the deal to be the same everywhere because commenters say the .97 pricing may be store-only and the item number may not match on lookup, so it can be location-specific.

Prices ending in .97 is a special markdown at the store only. Not sure why your store is clearing out that item before the holiday rush.
If you post your store's location, locals might be able to replicate the deal if it's still in stock.
For instance in MA in the Boston area, only Everett has it, for $249.

Where is your local Costco that has the 256GB for $199?

I'm in the app, it shows $299 online price, and it says my store name and:
In Stock Buy in Warehouse
Warehouse pricing may vary
This would be an absolutely fantastic device if the OS was more open to customization and especially to debloating. As is, it's a Meta marketing tool and ought to be sold as a loss leader, the same way Amazon sells their Kindle and Fire devices dirt cheap intending to make up the loss on Prime memberships.
If stores are discounting these, I'm guessing it has something to do with this - https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/29/m...arter.html
That being said, IMHO one of the coolest things about these is that you can use them as a cheap 3D video camera [youtube.com].
