so is this something I can resell / lend to a friend or is it the same as if I bought a digital copy?

It's not the same as a digital copy, it is a digital copy. I really dislike when they sell a box only to have a code.

You may be able to find some actual physical copies still floating around at retail for ~$20. Best Buy is probably the best bet.

This is very interesting. I have a physical version of this game that actually has a cart and game on the cart... I think that this is the first instace where I have seen a game released in both cartridge form and also digital-code-in-a-box form.

My guess is that the cartridges sold out and, to save money, they did a code-in-the-bix re-release... Has anyone else seen this with any other game?

Uhhh yeah, with a bunch of titles. Especially with Ubisoft ones in particular. Once their releases become a bit older they have a penchant for 'converting' what was once a physical game over to a digital code-in-box one. This is especially prevalent at Walmart.
