Community Reviews

This sale is strongest for first party Switch favorites, especially Luigi's Mansion 3, Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 3, and Echoes of Wisdom, with extra value on the Switch 2 thanks to free resolution updates for some of them. Luigi's Mansion 3 gets the warmest praise as the standout in its series, and Odyssey still draws interest even from players who usually prefer 2D Mario. The main catch is pricing, since only about half the lineup is actually $29.99 and the rest sit at $39.99, with Donkey Kong Country Returns HD drawing the most disappointment. Echoes of Wisdom also gets a sharp negative take, so this feels best for shoppers chasing the better discounted titles.

Common Questions (5)

  • No. Only about half of the listed games are at $29.99, and the rest are $39.99. The sale uses "starting at" pricing, so some titles remain above the advertised $30 level.

    248xero1TruthIsOK

  • No, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is still $39.99 in this sale. That makes it a weaker buy for shoppers waiting for the $25-$30 range, especially since it has been this low or cheaper before.

    Seth1908Spaceman6969

  • Yes. Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 3, and Echoes of Wisdom all received free Switch 2 updates that improve resolution. That adds value if you plan to play them on Switch 2.

    Nintenbrospec2

  • Luigi's Mansion 3 is described as the best game in the series and a standout compared with Luigi's Mansion 2. The main caveat is price: it is still seen as unlikely to drop low enough for some shoppers to buy.

    jimbobolowskieRagingBerserker

  • The thread raises that as a possibility, but no comment confirms same-room local play with two Switches and two copies. It is also noted that Splatoon 3 does not have split-screen like the original Wii U game.

Out of this list, Splatoon 3, Mario Odyssey, and Echoes of Wisdom all received free updates that improved their resolution on the Switch 2. Otherwise no, as you said
Do you get to use a sword and shield for most of the game in Echos of Wisdom? No I texted in having to craft and summon crap to kill enemies and solve puzzles. Reason I hated TOTK so much.

And how is Splatoon 3? Is the single player good? I see it doesn't have split screen like the first one on WiiU...Boooo! I don't play online. Can you play against each other in the same room with 2 copies and two switches?

I don't generally like 3d Mario games. I like the 2D side scrollers. But Odyssey looks a bit better. World's aren't as barren. If I absolutely hated Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 and think Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine were just okay...would I like Odyssey,?

Paper Mario was a letdown

Edit: Donkey Kong Country Returns, actually.
One of the most well received Nintendo games (and games in general) was a letdown? Wtf.

Did you play Galaxy on Wii or switch? Just curious. I loved it on Wii, but been reluctant to get the switch versions since reading that the joy con controls aren't as good as the Wii controls

I'm getting by with playing with the pro controller. Only awkward when trying to use gyro for Yoshi tongue.

I found Odyssey to be a bit better than Sunshine. I hated 64. Only liked the fluddless areas of Sunshine. Loved Galaxy 1 & 2. 3d World was great. So for the most part the opposite of you. I'd put Odyssey in the middle leaning closer to Sunshine with the cap gimmick being reminiscent but admittedly better than fludd.

Anyone know what the participating retailers are? Can't find Echoes of Wisdom on saleEdit: nm. Missed that it starts 11/23
Echoes of wisdom was very bad. If you love Zelda games avoid this one.
