Samsung's Galaxy Tab A9 Plus is a solid 11 inch tablet for streaming, web browsing, YouTube, Roblox, and kid use. The screen is described as decent for the price, and Samsung Kids Mode with password protected app control makes it appealing for families. Bloatware can usually be removed or disabled, especially after cleanup or debloating. The main drawback is the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration, which can lag, struggle with app switching, and feel too limited for games or heavier use. Charging port reliability and slow charging are also recurring concerns, making it a better fit for basic tasks than demanding ones.

  • buyers who are willing to choose the higher-spec configuration (8GB/128GB) or do light cleanup because multiple commenters say the 4GB/64GB model lags on basic tasks, while the 8GB/128GB version runs smooth and bloatware can be uninstalled/disabled quickly.

  • people using it mainly for streaming and basic apps like YouTube/Roblox because commenters specifically call it perfect for YouTube and Roblox and say it's capable for streaming, web surfing, and reading emails.

  • kids who need a tablet with controlled app access because Samsung Kids Mode lets you password-protect which apps appear, and commenters say this deal is a larger/better step up from the kids tablets they've used successfully.

  • people buying the 4GB/64GB version for everyday multitasking because commenters report lag when switching apps/swiping notifications and say 4GB RAM isn't enough for today's functionality.

  • parents expecting it to be a long-term, reliable kids tablet because commenters report charging-port/USB-C solder failures and short lifespan issues on cheap tablets, including "shot" charging ports on multiple units.

  • buyers who want to pay $150 for the 4GB/64GB configuration because commenters say they wouldn't pay $150 for the lesser RAM/storage and recommend waiting for the 8GB/128GB model instead.

  • buyers who want easy removal of Samsung pre-installed apps because commenters dispute that it's straightforward and warn that deleting/disabling many apps may require ADB/root and could risk deleting needed components.

  • people who need it to stay fast after major OS updates because commenters say after updating to Android 15 the tablet can lock/freeze and become almost unusable.

How are these as kids tablets? Tired of the junky Amazon Fire tablets.

How old are your kids?

I really like the Chinese Tablets.

1st... you need to choose what size do you want? 8.4" or 10.1" or 11"

2nd... go to Amazon and search G99 tablets and start from their. ONE THING... just be careful about the RAM, they all list MAX RAM including virtual RAM and some tablets actually have 6GB or 8GB.

The CHEAPEST G99 tablet, which I got for my kid was the Lincplus T3 for $90 at Amazon. It's GOOD!!!! But I think there are better. I go by specs and specs only.

Acutally there are now others and with MORE RAM...
https://www.amazon.com/UMIDIGI-An...hdGY&psc=1

Usually, a Chinese tabelt comes with ZERO bloatware and ZERO apps installed. Just pure Android. Just this fact alone makes these tablets work smooth.

And a G99 is equal in speed to the SD695. That is why I say G99. I also say to have a decent Android experiance you want AT LEAST a G99 cpu with 6GB of RAM.

Like other... I don't recommend this tablet with only 4GB or RAM.

BUT, this tablet is capable of streaming and web surfing and reading your emails. Not enough RAM to play many games and not enough hard drive space to install games.

This tablet is for the person who never goes to the app store or only goes and downloads.....
1. Netflix, Amazon, Disney, facebook... and that is all I can think of.

JoshuaNH - I like your thinking. I really want to get one of these cheap Chinese tablets with no bloatware for the kid. Is the one you linked - the Helio G99 16GB + 128GB the best of the bunch? I don't mind paying a little extra to get the best of the bunch - if there is a better one for a little more money please point me to it! Thanks so much!!!

I only go by specs....

Just realize that 16GB or RAM is not true... they include "virtual RAM"... it is usually 6GB or 8GB.

Let me look at tablets....

Just think like this... all G99 tablets are the same speed. So now look at RAM and don't get fooled on Virtual RAM, I have many times. You need to see it it states in the pictures regarding RAM... for example it it says this (4 + 8), to me it means the tablet has 4GB of real RAM. And you only want to use REAL RAM because your hard drive is SO MUCH SLOWER and using virtual RAM will most likely slow you down.

To me the issue is not finding a tablet but finding a drop proof case. You can give your dimensions of the tablet to ChatGPT and Gemini etc... and ask what other tablet has the identical dimensions. Just realize that AI is not always right so verify...

This is what google says...

What Google says.....There is no specific evidence that all Chinese tablets using the G99 processor have spyware, but there is a significant risk of pre-installed malware and backdoors on many generic, non-branded Android devices from certain Chinese manufacturers. This risk is not tied to the G99 processor itself, but rather to the manufacturers and their supply chains.
What is funny to me is that there IS NO EVIDENCE... not one mention.

Again from Google... There is no single specific G99 tablet model that has been universally identified as containing pre-installed spyware from the manufacturer in the same way as some isolated cases with non-brand, low-cost tablets in the past (such as some from 2015 that used Allwinner chips).

POINT IS... NOT ONE SINGLE MODEL IDENTIFIED WITH SPYWARE that uses a G99 CPU.

LAST THING...
I chose a G99 cause it is equal to the SD695 in power AND that is the slowest CPU I would recommend.

OK... SOMETHING TO CONSIDER.... Many of these tablets may not have Widevine Level 1 support. If you want to stream from PAID services and you want to stream in HD... you need widevine level 1 support. The good news is that for every paid streaming site like Netflix or Disney, there is about a hundred unethical streaming sites that don't care about widevine Level 1 support. Before you try any of these sites... the first thing you need to do is install FIREFOX and go to google and type UBLOCK ORIGIN FOR FIREFOX and install that addon... now your browser has the best popup and add blocker in the world.

I like this tablet, but please do yourself a favor and get the 8GB RAM/128GB storage model, especially when it goes on sale for $150-180 regularly.I wouldn't pay $150 for the lesser RAM and storage on this thing.
I've owned the 4/64 version and currently own the 8/128 version. You're 100% correct. Even is you don't need the extra storage, the 8GB version runs smooth and doesn't lag. The 4GB model struggles doing basic tasks. Wait for a deal on the 8GB on the 8/128 model.

As for Samsung bloatware, yeah it's there. But, you can uninstall or disable most of it in a couple of minutes if you want to.

We bought the SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab A7 Lite 8.7" 32GB Dark Gray (Wi-Fi) for our kids in late 2023 for $100 and they are still going strong. I would consider this deal a slightly better and larger version of that tablet, so it should work perfectly. They have "Samsung Kids Mode", which lets you password protect a mode where you are in control of what apps appear - which is helpful because you can let them use it more independently without worrying about them buying something randomly. Supplement with some microSD expandable storage and a protective "kids" case on Amazon and you are golden.

Really... like REALLY????

To delete pre-installed apps on a tablet from a manufacturer, you typically need to use an ADB (Android Debug Bridge) command on a computer, which requires enabling developer options and USB debugging on the tablet. Alternatively, if you have root access, you can use a third-party app like Titanium Backup or a system app remover. For standard apps, you can use the tablet's built-in Settings app or the Google Play Store.

AND SO MANY WILL NOT DELETE or DISABLE even using ADB debug Bridge. AND if you don't know what you are doing... this may lead you to deleting something that you may actually need. But GO AHEAD AND TELL EVERYONE HOW EASY IT IS.... SHAKING MY HEAD!!!

AND THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL SO EASY....
The main tool to delete Samsung bloatware without root access is using Android Debug Bridge (ADB) with a computer, which requires enabling USB debugging on your tablet and running a few commands. Alternatively, you can use a third-party tool like Universal Android Debloater, which simplifies the process by providing a user-friendly interface, or disable most apps directly through the tablet's settings.
Method 1: Using Android Debug Bridge (ADB)
This method allows you to remove apps without rooting your tablet, but it requires using a computer.
Enable Developer Options and USB Debugging: Go to Settings > About tablet > Software information and tap the Build number seven times. Then go back to Settings and enable Developer options and USB debugging.
Connect to a computer: Connect your tablet to your computer with a USB cable. You may need to authorize the connection on your tablet.
Install ADB Platform-Tools: Download and install the Android SDK Platform-Tools on your computer.
Open a command prompt: Navigate to the platform-tools folder in your command prompt or terminal.
Run the command: Use the command adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 <package_name> to uninstall apps. Replace <package_name> with the actual package name of the app you want to delete.
You can find the package name by enabling USB debugging and using a command like adb shell pm list packages or by using a third-party app like Package Name Viewer 2.0 on your tablet.
Method 2: Using Universal Android Debloater (UAD)
This is a user-friendly tool for those who want a graphical interface.
Download and install the Universal Android Debloater tool on your computer.
Follow the tool's instructions, which typically involve connecting your tablet to your computer via USB and enabling USB debugging.
The tool will display a list of apps you can remove without a complex command-line process.
Method 3: Disabling apps in settings
For many pre-installed apps, you can simply disable them through the device's settings, which prevents them from running and stops them from appearing in your app drawer.
Go to Settings > Apps.
Tap the app you want to disable.
Select the Disable button

WOW... people are complaining how slow this model is at 4GB and yours runs at 33% of the speed of the G99 and it only has 3GB of RAM... AND TO YOU IT MEANS IT IS GOING STRONG????

Just be realistic... If you think your tablet is "going strong", people don't want a going strong tablet. To me, your tablet is a nightmare to use due to how slow it is.

Google has Google Family Link app, that is what everyone I know uses who has Android. And some of the parents I know buy additional monitoring apps. As far as I am concerned, the "Samsung Kids Mode" is just more bloatware to spy on you.

Your tablet is just WAY TOO SLOW to even talk about.

So IN late 2023 I purchased the Lincplus T3 for $90 and it was the version that had 8GB of RAM... TODAY this tablet is STILL FASTER then the A9+ 8GB with 128GB... and this deal is for the 4GB version. I still recommend the EXACT model (the one on Amazon is now 6GB) today over a Samsung A9+, but today there are some better deals like the model I posted that sells for $80 after you clip the coupon.

It's fine. But realize a few things....

Getting to youtube... may take a few seconds longer every single time.

With ESPN, since you are using their app, there may be lag... but most likely not.

You are buying a tablet with 4GB or RAM... to many users have stated that is no enough RAM for today's functionality.

AND REALIZE, you will get updates, you will get the next OS... and this WILL MAKE YOUR TABLET SLOWER.

Just returned two of these back to Amazon that were $130 excellent like new open box. Once they are updated to Android 15 they are almost unusable. They lock and freeze up, lag like crazy. Even for just one app, just one task. Its brutal. I have a Galaxy S11 so I am a bit spoiled with that responsiveness but I would have been ok with anything usable. These border on almost unusable state. I knew the specs were minimal but even Nexus tablets from over 10 years ago out performed this tablet. I dont get it.

If you want some advice... don't. Those cheap Chinese tablet sacrifice on something you don't realize. Build Quality. I've purchased many of them recently. Alldocube. the UMIDIGI linked, LincPlus, Hauwei, and many others. Guess what happens to all of them? The solder for the usb-c charging port always breaks loose and then you cannot charge the darn things. Don't take much effort either. The other thing that happens is that they use very thin metal for the bodies. Too thin. You won't realize it until it happens but the bodies will bend at the volume buttons where the body is even thinner to make room for those buttons. It because a massive weak point to the whole tablet causing them to go concave without realizing it.

Performance and battery life are actually fine on those Cheap Chinese tablets, but the build quality just sucks. I just don't know what to try anymore as they all fail after a few months.

They asked if it was good for kids. For my kids under 6, it's objectively better than the fire tablet. Of course, if they were playing a video game that needed better specs, then you're right, it's junk.
