Nice little discount as the B850 Tomahawk has been $199-209 in recent past and is a great board.
MSI's MPG B850 Edge Ti Wifi [msi.com] is the same board with a few slight upgrades for $199.
With a .edu email you can get 10% Education discount off either mobo at MSI Store. [msi.com]

When you register your MSI products bought from ANY authorized seller you get steam credits. [msi.com]
With the b850 Tomahawk you get $20 steam credit.
With the b850 Edge TI you get $30 steam credit.

Had a pcpp list made with this for my new build, so great timing, thanks! Just happened to grab some ram a day or two before the prices spiked on a mistake that Amazon still honored, so now to start the hunt for the 9800X3D and figure out what cooler I want to go with.

I currently have an x670e Steel Legend for my new build, but have been considering selling it for this because I want the 4.0x4 second slot for a secondary gpu (3070) to get the extra bandwidth.

For those in this market that are smarter than I am (almost all of you), when you look at the specs of a board like this, how common is it that this doesn't have USB4? My ignorant/rookie/uneducated/humble reaction is that I am "settling" by getting these kind of specs but still missing USB4. I have no current use for USB4 (nor most of these specs), but I'm looking at components that will keep me out of this market for the next 10yrs.

You better check your power supply. This thing needs 2x CPU and a PCIE just on the motherboard. So if your video card needs more than 2x PCIE power plugs, you better do your research. I found that most power supplies under 1000w don't even come with that many 2x8 rails.

And the cables, even though they fit, the manufacturers screw with the pin-outs and the same-fitting cables might not even work. Ask how I know!

Overall, this new build is pretty amazing, and it got rid of my crappy b550m mouse lag bugs. Sucks DDR5 is horrendously expensive right now.
