Bose QuietComfort Ultra wireless noise cancelling headphones are being discussed as an open box deal, with the main appeal being premium noise cancelling and the chance to save versus new. Open box units can arrive looking brand new, and some buyers have found better pricing through Bose offers or trade in deals. The main caution is that Best Buy open box grading and fulfillment can be inconsistent, with reports of heavily used items, wrong items, and occasional failures after a short time. A solid option if the savings outweigh the open box risk.
Common Questions (4)
Open-box units can arrive looking brand new, but Best Buy grading is inconsistent and some "Excellent" items have been heavily used or even wrong items. The practical tradeoff is a lower price versus a real chance of needing a return or warranty claim.
Yes, with an Amex card the headphones can reportedly be bought new from Bose.com for around $220 after cashback and related offers. A trade-in deal was also mentioned at about $249, but only for black and white Gen 2 colors.
The headphones are covered by Bose's 1-year warranty, and that warranty can be used to start a return or replacement process. That makes open-box less risky if you are willing to deal with a possible claim.
It may be the older version, since a newer 1.1 revision was mentioned with slight upgrades such as lossless audio over USB-C. If you want the latest hardware features, that is the main reason to compare versions before buying.
