I tried switching from wyze to tapo but tapos app ahd problems so i ended up switching back. Tapo app seems to go to sleep after 2 weeks or so and stops sending you notifications if i just open the app the notification resumes but i never know when it stops. Also the memory card on the tapo cameras needs to be formatted every few months. It just stops recording for no reason. If i format the card it works again but that is also annoying. I guess all this is fine if you're constantly checking your cameras but if you only check them when you need to they never seem to be working when i need them.

This is most definitely your phone setting to somehow stop background activity by the app. Never had this issue on my iPhone/Android for the past 3 yearsNotifications are fast and object detections are almost perfect

Tapo solar cam doesn't give you 24 hour recording. Might want to consider hardwired if you want to do 24 hr recording. Solar ones do record at motion trigger. Note that they were late at motion recordings and got somewhat better with firmware updates.

I'd say go with hardwired. I have solar ones and I regret getting it since it doesn't support 24hr recoding and motion detection is late most of the time.

I have the Kasa and Tapo cameras. Kasa has the option to limit notifications - it won't keep bombarding you if it detects a person. Tapo does not have this and send multiple notifications. Other than that, the Kasa cameras work great with Tapo app and still retain the notifications limiting feature.
The dual lens cam is great. It rotates the one camera when a person is moving to keep them in frame.

I have a few Tapo/Kasa cameras that support rtsp and seemlessly integrate with Blueiris if you want to have a dashboard style security camera display setup with a continuous live feed. My setup with 6 cameras has been working reliably for over a year. Definitely worth the investment.

Every since wyze stopped working with docker bridge, I've fully moved over to tapo cams. They support rtsp local streaming. Works great with blueiris and home assistant

Last I checked,no solar camera does 24 hour recording. I suggested a 2 zone solution. Zone 1 records, zone 2 notifies. Hopefully we will see that some day.The reason: the police wanted where the people came from and what way they went. So the short clip wasn't enough. Good thing my camera did 24x7 I provided the extra on both ends of the clip. Since no solar camera does 24 x 7 I suggested record any movement. Then only notify me know if in a zone.

I have Tapo, Eufy, and Wyze (v1, v2, v3, OG) and Wyze are easily the worst. one run of cameras I have gone through are looking out the front of my house, facing west, where the sun sets. For whatever reason EVERY version of the Wyze has a purple hue burned into it from the sunsets but my Kasa doorbell camera and Eufy 2k cam don't have it. The Eufy has sat directly next to the 3 different versions of Wyze while they got the hue and had to be replaced.

Regarding the Tapo, the power adapters on the ones I have are a barrel plug and it seems antiquated and annoying, why not just give USB-C or even micro USB. Picture quality, Eufy and Tapo seem to be about the same for a cheap camera.

I wouldn't mind a PTZ camera, so I may talk myself into one of these, but I'll probably wait for the BF splurge.

Is the Tapo/Kasa RTSP resolution limited to 1920x1080? Is there support for PTZ control from Blue Iris to those cameras? Thanks!

Reolink does. I have 3 of them. The only issue is they need sun ALL THE TIME. I'm starting to notice now that it's winter and daylight is shorter, I have switched from 24/7 to motion or else in a couple of days, the batteries dies and I have to run a hardwire charge cable to 100 and repeat if I wanted 24/7.
