We're in the market for a set of luggage but I noticed this at the bottom of the description. That's an issue I already have with my love/hate relationship with Travelers Choice and their very picky warranty.
I can easily pack a 24" suitcase to 50lbs. I've been finding my 28" cumbersome and less useful as I've gotten more experienced packing.Yes the maximum is 62" and this is 63.7"? That's 1.7" over."OVERALL DIMENSIONS: 30.4" x 20.9"x 12.4""
Look at the second picture with the diamenstions of the suitcase - 20.9"+12.4"+27.75"= 60.05"
I don't know anything about luggage, but my mother is starting to travel a lot and I want to get her something nice and durable. Would this work for a carry-on, and how is the weight for a 70 year old woman?

This 28" suitcase is too big for carry-on. Please do further research on Google about the proper size of suitcase for carry-on (and/or check-in) as the allowance suitcase size can vary by the airlines.
Personally, I like the suitcase that can expand. Also, I do prefer a gifter to ask my opinion about the suitcase if someone is trying to give me one as a gift. Women may have certain opinions about bags (or suitcases).

This is technically too big even for check in without paying oversized luggage fees. But most likely you'd get away with it as it's just slighly over the limit.
